Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
The RAF Alconbury Military & Family Readiness Center is the point of contact for base level deployment support to the member and their families during the entire deployment cycle.
The deployment cycle is:
Deployments, extended temporary duty travel, or TDY, and remote/unaccompanied assignments are synonymous with life in the military and present unique financial, legal, life style, and relationship challenges for single members and members with families. The M&FRC will provide educational material, briefings, consultations, and all available resources for continuous support for the entire family for the length of the deployment cycle and unaccompanied overseas short tours.
The Readiness Program provides all personnel assigned to the Alconbury/Molesworth area with information and resources on readiness issues. It also provides assistance and support to family members before and after mobilization, and in the event of evacuation. The readiness non-commissioned officer promotes preparedness for these situations through family education and development of assistance programs such as pre-deployment, reintegration, spouse support, executes on behalf of the Air Force Aid Society, the Give Parents a Break and Car Care Because We Care programs.
In addition, the readiness NCO helps families maintain contact during all phases of the deployment cycle, providing workshops and services to help meet the challenges of deployment, as well as information and referral to deployment-related resources. Services include pre-deployment education consultations for deploying members and families, sustainment support services such as email connectivity, telephone contact, community events, and applicable Air Force Aid Society programs that support the return/reunion/reintegration program. For school-aged children we have teamed with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools system on RAF Alconbury to support the children assigned to the deployment support group. Activities for this group are planned and scheduled throughout the school year.
Reintegration support is offered to both the military member, deploying civilians, and to family members. Pre-deployment, return and reunion, and reintegration consultations for military members and spouses are available on demand by appointment, please call 0148-084-3557.
