Military members living on base must register their pets at the base veterinary clinic within 10 days of arriving at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The base veterinary treatment facility offers pet owners an alternative location to receive vaccinations, tests and examines for cats and dogs with the assistance of a veterinarian from the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. The Veterinarian is here twice a week to provide services to Team Seymour's cats and dogs. They do not see sick or injured animals; however, he/she can administrate an array of vaccinations including the distemper, rabies and bordetella shots. The staff can also do microchip implantation, nail trimming, ear cleaning and wellness exams to ensure overall health. The facility's hours of operation vary Monday through Thursday; however, these hours are subject to change due to veterinarian shortages. For more information about the Veterinary Treatment Facility or to schedule an appointment, call 919-722-1465.

1003 Collier Ave.
Seymour Johnson AFB
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base does not have a pet quarantine of any type.
Plan your pet's trip in the same way you plan your own – well in advance. Make sure he or she has a clean bill of health. Never give him or her tranquilizers without the veterinarian's approval. Make sure your pet has identification in case he or she gets separated from you. Be sure of the correct specifications for the carriers your pet will be spending most of his or her trip in, i.e. size, construction, ventilation, water container. Make sure reservations are made for the pet for both the airplane and the hotel. If traveling with you, which is the most convenient, never leave your pet alone in a parked vehicle.
Air Travel
The Pet Movers, reachable at 800-625-3448, can assist you with moving your pets. Check with the transportation management office first by calling 919-722-5452 or DSN 312-722-5452.
Pet (Dog/Cat) PCS Transportation
A military pet may be considered no different than a military family member. When duty calls and you must relocate, pet PCS transportation can become costly. Assistance maybe available thru the Accounting & Fiance Office and TMO to help with the airfare cost to transport family dog/cat when PCS assignment order is to/from an OCONUS location. Required shots, carriers, boarding or other than transportation cost will be the responsibility of pet owner. Contact Air Aid Society for details.
Pets can stay at the Southern Pine Inn lodging facility, but pet-friendly rooms are limited, so call as soon as possible to reserve a room. For a list of requirements and policies, see the Southern Pines Inn flyer on in your sponsor package or call Seymour Johnson Lodging at DSN 919-722-0385. Also, pets may be housed in local animal kennels.
