Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. The Child Development Center for children ages 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten strives to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children by providing a safe and nurturing environment which meets the needs of the family and the child.
The Tobyhanna Child Development Center offers a variety of care options for children 6 weeks to 6 years of age. The SAS program provides a before and after school program, a before school program, an after school program, and full day services during school breaks. We also offer a full day summer program. The School Age Program offers before and after school care, school holiday care, an evening program and summer camp for children kindergarten through teenage. School Age Services offers before and after school care throughout the school year and for scheduled vacations and snow days. The program also offers a Computer Lab and Homework Center, both with instructors. All children must be enrolled in CYS to use the SAS programs. Fees are based on DOD guidelines.
Child & Youth Services (CYS) provides quality programming for children 6 weeks through 12th grade. Our services are offered through various programs to include Family Child Care (FCC), Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Services (SAS), Youth Services, (YS) Middle School & Teen (MST) and School Liaison Services (SLS).
All programs strive to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children and youth by providing a safe and nurturing environment. Our well trained staff are committed to offering high quality, developmentally appropriate programming for each child based on ages, abilities, interests, personality and cultural backgrounds.
CYS programs are offered as a supplement to eligible families of the Tobyhanna Army Depot community. Two state of the art facilities constructed in 2008 provides 190-210 child & youth spaces for a variety of programming.
