If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
Other relief aid societies available are Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. Assistance to service members of those services can be provided through Army Emergency Relief due to a reciprocal agreement with the aid societies. Click on AER to learn more about the program.
The American Red Cross maintains emergency message services and coordinates financial assistance through all relief societies. The ARC is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that provides relief to victims of disasters; help people prepare for and respond to emergencies. Services include emergency communication, financial assistance, disaster assistance, CPR, first aid and babysitting training. Our nearest ARC is located on Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, which is about two hours from Benelux-Brunssum and is not a 24-hour facility. Army Emergency Relief is available at U.S. Army Garrison Benelux-Brunssum Army Community Service. The AER program provides financial assistance to soldiers active and retiree, survivors and their dependents in the form of a loan or grant. Army Emergency Relief can assist in a financial emergency situation such as non-receipt of pay, loss of funds, medical expenses, funeral expenses, emergency travel, rent, food and utilities. Cases are reviewed individually and need is determined on a case-by-case basis. AER also provides college scholarships to children, spouses and surviving spouses of soldiers.

If an emergency occurs while you are in transit to USAG Benelux-Brunssum, contact your nearest military installation. If there is no military installation in the area, contact the American Red Cross, a hospital or local auto club, depending on the nature of the emergency.
