Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. The Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) Child Development Center (CDC) provides quality child care to children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten.
Eligible patrons include: active-duty military personnel, DoD civilian employees, guard/reserve component military personnel on active duty or inactive duty training status, active-duty combat-related wounded warriors, surviving spouses of military members who died from a combat-related incident, those acting in loco parentis for the dependent child of an otherwise eligible patron, and eligible employees of DoD contractors.
Respite care is offered upon availability, and as required.
Hourly care is only available with an advanced reservation of at least 24 hours, and upon availability.

Youth Services (CYS) offers quality School Age Care to children ages Kindergarten through fifth grade. The Middle School Teen program services 6th-12th grade. Eligible patrons include: active-duty military personnel, DoD civilian employees, guard/reserve component military personnel on active duty or inactive duty training status, active-duty combat-related wounded warriors, surviving spouses of military members who died from a combat-related incident, those acting in loco parentis for the dependent child of an otherwise eligible patron, eligible employees of DoD contractors.
Registration and Enrollment Policies - Parent & Outreach Services is your gateway to CYS programs. This office provides central registration for all of CYS (child development center, school age services, middle school and teen, youth sports, among many others. CYS offers full-time care, part-time preschool, before school care, after school care, before/after school care, camp, and hourly care. All registrations are good for one year and fees are based on total family income (except for DoD contractors). The registration office is located in building 1001. Hours of operation are 0600-1700 hours, Monday-Thursday and Fridays by appointment. Closed all Federal Holidays. To register or for more information, please call 928-328-2860.

Children with Special Needs - Child & Youth Services includes children with special needs (asthma, food intolerance, learning disabilities, vision and hearing problems, diabetes, attention deficit disorder, etc.) in all programs. To ensure each child is enrolled in the appropriate program or service, the Multi-Disciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT) meets with the parent and reviews relevant records prior to placement. The goal of this team is to share information to ensure the success of the child's placement into any CYS program. In the event of a new or updated diagnosis after placement, the parent is asked to inform the center Director so that an additional Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT) meeting can be scheduled.
The Child Development Center on US Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG), Yuma Arizona is currently accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and available for all military (priority), DoD employees, and contractor's children that work on YPG. Fees are determined by total family income on a sliding scale.
Depending on the time of year, there may be a wait list. If this is the case, openings will be offered on a first come first serve basis depending on family priority status. A completed registration packet is required and is available at the Child Development Center at 928-328-3130 or online at Yuma Proving Ground Family and MWR's website under the Parent Central registration tab.
Services are available to children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Full time, hourly (if openings available), and a Pre-K part day program is offered Monday-Friday, from 5:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with occasional night and weekend care available for special events. Hourly fees are $8.00 an hour and due upon pickup. The hours of center operation are from 5:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. M-F with occasional night and weekend care available for special events.
