Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Army Community Service at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground offers support to family members who are facing separations due to mission requirements by linking them with other families who are also experiencing a separation. The Hearts Apart program is for any spouse and/or family member of soldiers who are deployed, serving an unaccompanied PCS tour, or lengthy TDY. The program provides monthly emails to group members and a supportive in person setting for activities, as well as opportunities to learn about available resources and to network with each other during the absence of their sponsors is also available. The ongoing contact of a supportive group and/or friendly gatherings offers great comfort to those separated from their loved ones. Activities will depend on group wishes and availability of funds. The group can meet in various locations throughout the installation. One-on-one settings are available as well for families who prefer that. For more information, call 928-328-2513.
