If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Advisement on “Associate, bachelor and masters programs are available through the Education and Training Center. Locally Western Oklahoma State College offers a variety of 2 year associated degrees. Contact a representative from the college for more information about the programs that they offer. A representative from the college is available at the Education and Training Center Tue – Thur 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Information on financial assistance is available upon request. Altus boasts one of the finest public school systems in the state.
The Education and Training Center directs, administers, manages, and monitors the Air Force voluntary education services program which includes: 1) providing advisement of college and university programs that meet the needs of Altus Air Force Base personnel; 2) approving/granting tuition assistance funds for active duty Air Force personnel; 3) providing counseling and advisement services to Altus personnel both military and civilian, and their family members on topics such as degree programs/requirements, sources of financial aid, vocational/technical training, and American colleges and universities-costs, entrance and eligibility requirements, etc.; 4) providing information on testing services for college credit, interest tests and inventories, Air Force Institute for Advanced Distributed Learning (merger of AF Distance Learning Office with Extension Course Institute), and End of Course tests, as well as information about test preparation materials; and, 5) assisting active duty Air Force members with specific Air Force programs such as officer commissioning and Community College of the Air Force.
The focal point for all military off-duty, family members and civilian employees educational opportunities is the Altus AFB Education and Training Center.
The center provides testing for WAPS, Language, AFOQT, DPLT, TBAS and FAA.
