You may be expecting your first baby or busy with a toddler. That probably means you have your hands full, and may have questions. Thankfully, help is at hand.
The New Parent Support Program is a free service that helps military parents, including expectant parents, transition successfully into parenthood and provide a nurturing environment for their children. Services vary, but may include home visits, parenting classes, playgroups or prenatal classes.
The New Parent Support Program is a team made up of nurses, social workers and home visitation specialists who offer support and guidance by helping parents:

New Parent Support Program staff are child development professionals, including registered nurses, clinical social workers, and para-professionals trained in the delivery and practice of established home visiting models. The program is supervised and monitored at the installation level by the Family Advocacy program manager.
The program is available to military families who are expecting a baby or have children age 3 or younger. Marine Corps eligibility includes families with at least one child under 5.

The New Parent Support Program at Altus Air Force Base is located in the 97th Medical Group Mental Health Clinic. It is administered by Family Advocacy, 580-481-5376, and provides the following services:

The base clinic/Pediatrics department conducts well baby exams and provides immunizations and office visits.
The Child Development Center offers programs for children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years, including infant care, Parent's Night Out and Give Parents a Break Program. For more information, contact the center at 580-481-7502.
Bundles for Babies
The Military and Family Readiness Center provides the Bundles for Babies program Bi-Annually; the program includes information from Tricare, DEERs, New Parent Support Program, Med Group Pediatrician as well as Labor & Delivery from Jackson County Memorial Hospital, WIC, and the Child Development Center.

Women's, Infant, Children's Program
WIC provides assistance to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum and for infants and children under 5 years of age to families who meet their eligibility requirements including their income guidelines.

Single Military Parent Support Group
Recent addition to Altus AFB is the Single Military Parent Support Group which meets monthly at various locations around the base. It provides an opportunity for single parents and their children to meet others for a playful, fun, safe time to share, network and get to know others.
