A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
The Loan Closet/Locker is "Currently Undergoing Review".
For further information or status, call 580-481-6761 or stop by the Military & Family Readiness Center in Building 52, Room 1201.
Loan Closet items available include dish kits, pots and pans, irons and ironing boards and various small appliances, including microwaves. Laundry baskets, dish drainers and other miscellaneous items are also available.
Loan items are available to relocating and temporary duty travel military and Department of Defense civilians. A military identification card and a copy of your orders are required to check out items. We do not reserve items. The length of loan varies, depending on status (permanent change of station/TDY).
The Altus Air Force Base Thrift Shop is CLOSED.
Permanent party, active-duty enlisted personnel grade E-6 or below and their family members assigned to Altus Air Force Base can acquire items from the Airman’s Attic free of charge. Items are donated by other service members and civilians. There are many types of items available, including kitchenware, household goods, movies, books, electronic equipment, furniture, computers, arts and crafts, toys, newborn items, children's clothing (size 0-6x), adult clothing and much more. All items are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Come get what you need and consider donating unused items back to Airman's Attic in keeping with the pay-it-forward concept. Military uniforms and other items are free to all ranks.
This nonprofit operation, located in Building 3343, is managed by the Warrior 5/6 organization and staffed by volunteers. The Airman’s Attic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. For additional information, call 580-481-7696 during the Airman’s Attic hours, or contact any Warrior 5/6 executive council member.
Food Pantry
The food pantry is located in the same building as the Airman’s Attic, Building 3343. Access and use are available to anyone on base with an identification card, including all military, civilian and nonappropriated fund employees. The food pantry is stocked with non-perishable food items and some paper products, and access to services can be obtained simply by self-certifying your need and checking out a key from any chapel staff member. Gift cards to United Supermarket are also available, but a validated need, such as referrals from first sergeants, supervisors or commanders, must exist to receive the gift cards.
