Cannon AFB  Child and Youth Services

The Air Force Aid Society sponsors "Child Care for PCS" for families in PCS status. This program pays for 20 hours of childcare (per child) at both the losing base and the gaining base. The childcare must be used within 60 days of departure or arrival and must be provided by a licensed Family Day Care provider. The Cannon AFB Child Development Program is certified through the Department of Defense Child Development Services and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and provides services for children 6 weeks to 5 years. The cost for CDC programs is determined by a standardized sliding scale based on total family income. Full day care and hourly care are offered at both CDC facilities; there is one CDC (Cannon) on base and one CDC (Chavez) off base. When demand for child care exceeds capacity, waiting lists help us keep track of families requesting child care. By filling out a DD Form 2606, you can place your child's name on the child care waiting list in advance of your arrival. We also maintain a current list of all licensed and affiliated Family Child Care providers to assist in your search for downtown child care providers. The School Age Program offers Before and After School Care for children who are enrolled in kindergarten through age 12. We offer many activities including a Homework Club. During the summer, we also offer a Summer Camp with lots of activities and field trips to various locations.  Please call 575-784-2747 for more information.
