With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Cannon Air Force Base has several different types of rooms and facilities for temporary lodging. These include:
Visiting Officer Quarters
The room is for a single adult or married couple. Amenities include a queen-size bed in the bedroom with DVD player and TV provided in each unit. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in each unit. All phones have DSN capability. If you use the phone going through the civilian operator, it will be charged to the room unless it is a calling card call. Toll-free calls are not chargeable. Instructions for telephone use are in the room.
Temporary Lodging Facilities
A two-bedroom TLF sleeps a maximum of six people. Amenities include: a queen-size bed in the master bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom as well as a pull out couch in the living room. There is a stove and full-size refrigerator in each unit, and pots and pans and kitchen utensils are provided. A DVD player and TV are provided in each room as well as cribs and high chairs. Additional pack and play or chairs are subject to availability. All phones have DSN capability. If you use the phone going through the civilian operator, it will be charged to the room unless it is a calling card call. Toll-free calls are not chargeable. A one-bedroom TLF sleeps a maximum of five people. Amenities include: a full-size bed in the bedroom as well as a sofa bed. A stove and full-size refrigerator are in each unit, and pots and pans are provided. A DVD player and TV are provided in each room as well as cribs and high chairs. Additional cribs or chairs are subject to availability. All phones have DSN capability. If you use the phone going through the civilian operator, it will be charged to the room unless it is a calling card call. Toll-free calls are not chargeable. Lodging Entitlements during Permanent Change of Station
You are entitled to 30 days (if available) but you may request an extension. For any reimbursement questions, contact the Finance Office at DSN 312-681-2647.
Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. Early check-ins are subject to room availability. Space-available guests and guests paying in cash must pay for their entire stay in advance. Guests paying cash must also have a credit card on file. Late arrivals after 1800. must have a credit card on file to hold the room. Failure to do so will result in the room being canceled at 6:00 p.m.
Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Check-out after 11:00 a.m. will result in another day's room charge. All dishes must be washed and put away prior to leaving. A cleaning fee up to $150 may be charged for room damages or excessively dirty rooms.
Pet Temporary Lodging Facilities
Authorized pets include cats and dogs. A maximum of two pets are allowed per room unless authorized by the lodging manager. A $10 per night pet fee will be charged in addition to the regular TLF rates. There may be additional cleaning fees assessed if your pet defecates or urinates in the room or damages furniture.
The Caprock Inn is Cannon's lodging facility. Call for Rates. Reservations for PCS personnel should be made in advance. Families coming to Cannon may occupy TLFs for up to 15 days. There are some quarters at Caprock that allow small pets. The Caprock Inn office is at located in Building 1900 and their telephone number is 575-784-2918. For reservations, call 575-784-2919. Dormitory residents arriving during a normal week between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. may go into the dorms immediately. After 4 p.m., dorm residents may go into lodging for up to 10 days.
