It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
Contact the Spouse Employment Assistance manager at the Airman and Family Readiness Center by calling 575-784-4228 and scheduling an appointment. There are many employment and educational opportunities in the local area and on the installation.
Job opportunities range from employment in the service, education, medical and agricultural sectors, as well as with local, state and federal public service. Additionally, the area has several institutions of higher education that offer reasonably priced tuition for military family members. Many spouses return to school to complete their degrees in the areas of nursing, social work, education and business.
Beyond the service industry and entry level, most local job opportunities are in the medical, social service and education industries.
Good Prospects
Employment can be found in the area of social services, medical, education (elementary, secondary, special and college levels) and law enforcement. Employment in public service at the local, state and federal levels also boasts good prospects. Engineers with the appropriate education and credentials have a good chance of securing employment and are in demand.
Poor Prospects
It is important to note that employability in the local area is good; however, it is necessary to identify which areas are marketable and pose the necessary credentials and experience.
For job-hunting purposes, be sure to hand carry employment records, resumes, transcripts, permanent change of station orders, federal tax returns, etc. Do not ship these documents with household goods.
My Career Advancement Account, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Pell), Hap Arnold, Cannon Spouses Club and various local programs are available for application through Clovis Community College.
