Magnet School Opportunities
Clark County School District magnet schools bring students from diverse backgrounds and offere specialized programs and learning opportunities to ignite a student's passion and strength. Magnet school programs range from Baccalaureate to creative arts, to STEM, to leadership. Students from across the district may apply to a magnet program, regardless of the region in which they reside. However, transportation will only be provided to the students living within the desginated transporation boundary for the magnet program. The purpose of the magnet programs are to improve student achievement, promote diversity, and create an awareness for career opportunities relative to the fields of study in which students may be interested.
CCSD set aside magnet school seats for children of active duty Airmen who arrive after the application and seat acceptance deadlines (deadline normally occurs in Jan). While this is not a guarantee of acceptance, it certainly increases the chances. Middle school transfers are straightforward, while transferring into specialized high school magnet programs can still be a challenge unless the students can prove they came from similar programs at previous bases.
For more information on the magnet school application process, finding a magnet school, and answers to transportation questions, please go to magnet.ccsd.net or call 702-799-8492.
