Eglin AFB  Child and Youth Services

Eglin AFB Youth Center offers comprehensive programs to satisfy the needs of young family members. Youth Programs cater to youth, ages 5-18. The center provides instructional classes, sports programs, social functions and before-and-after school care. The sports program includes basketball, soccer, and cheerleading. Instructional classes are offered in Tae Kwon Do and dance. In addition to these events, the summer month's organized "drop-in" sports activities include volleyball, archery, tennis and basketball games. The Summertime program features Red Cross classes in babysitting, CPR and 1st aid, along with horseback riding, arts and crafts, trips clinics and may other events.

• Kids in Touch with Kids Sponsorship Program: Kids in Touch with Kids is a pen pal program that allows youth, who are preparing to move to Eglin, correspond with another youth living here. He or she can tell you more about what Eglin and the surrounding communities have to offer. Contact the Youth Center if you are interested in obtaining a pen pal.

• Youth Employment/Volunteer Opportunities: There are many opportunities for youth 17 and older in the areas of fast foods, services, retail sales and life guards. For younger teens, volunteer opportunities are abundant. From outdoor rec, pet welfare to the chapel, teens are welcome to share their talents! The Airman & Family Readiness Center staff can tell you more about these paid and volunteer opportunities. • Youth Recreation: Outdoor activities can be enjoyed year round because of the warm climate. You will really enjoy one of the two base pools in the summertime. Eglin also has a Community Beach Center directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Youth enjoy water sports during the summer and you can even rent equipment to join in the fun.
