With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Reservations can be made in advance by contacting Eglin Inns at 850-882-8761 or DSN 312-872-8761. You may also preregister for housing by calling the Housing Office at 850-882-4533. Eglin has limited temporary lodging quarters, and you may be referred off base for housing during the busy summer moving season. Personnel are highly encouraged to call in advance and make reservations.
Relocation Assistance
The Eglin Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) has a well-stocked Loan Closet to help with your arrival and departure from Eglin Air Force Base. Air mattresses, futons, dish packs and microwaves are just a few of the many items that can be borrowed for 30-day intervals. Supplies are limited, especially during the summer Permanent Change of Station (PCS) season. For questions, please call the M&FRC at 850-882-9060. The family services Loan Closet is located in Building 202, next to the M&FRC in Building 205. The Load Closet is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.
The quarters have kitchen facilities, bedroom area, private bath and other conveniences. All quarters are nonsmoking.
Eglin Inns has 32 total TLFs (20 pet units and 10 non-pet units)
Members are encouraged to make reservations as soon as they receive their orders.
Members are entitled to 30 days in TLF as long as the space is available. Members can request an extension up to 60 days for locations experiencing a housing shortage regardless of reason.
Members are currently entitled to 14 days TLE (Temporary Lodging Expense) during PCS within CONUS and seven days for moves between CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Priority is provided to inbound and outbound PCS personnel. TLF can also be used by active-duty on leave, retirees or temporary duty travel personnel on a space-available basis.
Aggressive or potentially aggressive breeds of dogs are defined as a Pit Bull, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier or English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chow and wolf hybrids. Prohibition also extends to other breeds of dogs or individual dogs that demonstrate or are known to demonstrate a propensity for dominant or aggressive behavior as indicated by any of the following type of behaviors.

Eglin Inns has space-available rooms for family and friends. Make Eglin Inns your first call for reservations. Some restrictions on length of stay and advance confirmations may apply. Reservations should be guaranteed with a credit card at the time they are made, or will otherwise cancel at 6:00 pm on the day of the scheduled arrival. Check-in time is 2 p.m.
Check-in for pet units is 4 p.m.
The Eglin Air Force Base Temporary Lodging Facility is located across from the Bayview Club on Boatner Road and can be accessed by turning right at first road past the west gate of Eglin Air Force Base (Bayside Inn is located at 1008 Boatner Road, building 11001, Eglin Air Force Base, FL 32542).
