When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Fort Hood ID Cards Facility/DEERS/ID Cards Office Building 130:Supports 175 counties in the Central Texas area for Enrollment/Update of DEERS and issues Next Generation USID Cards to assigned Active-Duty Dependents, Retirees/100% DAVs and their family members. Common Access Cards (CAC’s) will be issued to all DOD/DA civilians and Government Contractor employees and assigned Active-Duty Units under Division West. Online appointments can be made at https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/ , Contact management for extreme cases. Family members, Retirees, and Disabled Veterans must make their appointments within 90 days of expiration to replace their ID Cards. Initial Retirements, separating from the military and extension updates must bring in their DD Form 214 member # 4 to DEERs to out-process in DEERs. Initial Medicare Part A and B recipients is advised to schedule their appointments a week prior to the expiration date on their card. Ensure that you contact the Social Security Administration to apply for your Medicare Card 4 to 6 months before your military ID Card expires. You must have your Medicare care before you come in for your ID Card appointment. It is recommended for you contact the ID Cards Facility to get further guidance on when you should schedule your appointment. It is recommended that you use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Browsers. To make an appointment it is advised to follow these instructions: you would type in “IDCO” in the address line and the rest of the website will populate in the address line as idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco. Click the continue button in the ID Card Office and Locator Appointment; it would be in the first box on the left, however, if using a cell phone, it would be located at the top of the selection boxes.1. Next page you would select the tab that says alternate search, (on your cell, you would need to press the directional arrows to the right to find “Alternate Search” then press the word “Alternate Search”) then scroll upward to find “Site Name or ID”You would then type in the Site ID Number “101420” For DEPENDENTS or “175737” For CAC Cards that have a metal Chip on the card.1. If using your desktop Computer, you would click on the “Alternate Search”, then click in the circle radio button to select “Search by Site Name or Site ID”. On the line directly beneath, type in Site ID number “101420” for Dependents, Retirees or DISABLE Veteran’s. Or Type in SITE ID Number “175737” for CAC Cards with metal chip on card.2. Next, you would Click SELECT on the one that says FT. HOOD For Family Members/Retirees/DAVs IDs (No /Contractors/Military Units YOU WILL NOT BE SERVED IF YOU ARE TRYING TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THIS SITE. ONLY FOR DEPENDENTS/FAMILY MEMBERS/RET/DAVs3. At the bottom left side of page click on SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT4. Next Page, select a date on the Month Calendar that have AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS to schedule an appointment. Ensure you click on the arrow forward or back button to change to the applied Calendar Month.5. Once you select a date you will scroll page down and select a time that is available.6. Next screen input your information and save.7. Print out your confirmation when you see it populate.Authorized Active-Duty Units under Division West, DOD/DA Civilians and Contractors must make their appointments within 90 days of expiration by selecting the Ft. Hood MPC 1 “CAC APPOINTMENT ONLY” BUILDING 130 Legend Way and T.J. Blvd, FORT HOOD, TX 76544 link. The new location for the Fort Hood ID Card Facility is on the corner of T.J. Mills and Legend’s Way. The ID Card Facility building 130 is on the next block over from the AAFES’s gas station and Shoppette. The sponsor must be present for all transactions while the dependent is receiving an ID card or the dependent must have a DD Form 1172-2 verified by a Verified Official from a DEERS/ID Cards Facility, or a notarized DD Form 1172-2 or a valid general or special power of attorney to be service without the sponsor. Also, Active Duty can go to the ID Card Office Online website at https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco and select the Family ID Cards tabs to print out a digitally signed DD Form 1172-2 that can be acceptable for dependent ID Card requests and Housing verification.Two forms of state or federal issued IDs are required for 18 years and older; one must be a valid state or federal photo ID, and the secondary ID can be Social Security Card or Birth Certificate. State or Federal photo ID cannot be expired. All names on ID presented for validation must match the names in DEERS. All documents must be original copy or certified copy with file number. All documents must be in English or have documents translated by Military One Source or by an official US recognizable translation agency. Finally, the sponsor must accompany all dependents to get their ID Card, or the dependent must have a Power of Attorney (POA) in lieu of the sponsor not being present.Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. closed on all weekends and federal holidays. The Fort Hood Installation Reception Center (IRC) is a 24-hour operation providing reception and in-processing services for incoming Soldiers and Families at Fort Hood, Texas. We conduct customer service for all Soldiers reporting to III Armored Corps, 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Army Division, 3d Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army Garrison, 13th Sustainment Command, 1 Medical Brigade, 11th Corps Signal Brigade, 36th Engineer Brigade, 89th Military Police Brigade, 504th Military Intelligence Brigade, 3 Security Force Assistance Brigade, 48 Air Defense Artillery Brigade, U.S. Army Operational Test Command, and the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
Fort Hood Check-In Procedures
As you arrive to Fort Hood, all Soldiers will in-process the Fort Hood Installation Reception Center located at Building 16008, 42 Street, Fort Hood, Texas, 76544. The Reception Center operates 24/7 daily. For new arrivals to reach the Reception Process Control Station, please enter post through Bernie Beck Gate and follow T.J. Mills Blvd until you reach Old Ironsides Ave. Turn right on Old Ironsides Ave and then turn right again on 42nd Street. The reception area is located on the right. Parking is on the left.
Privately Owned Firearms: All personnel arriving to Fort Hood in possession of a privately owned firearm (POF) must register their POF in person at the Marvin Leath Visitor Welcome Center BEFORE attempting to access post. This applies to all Soldiers who will live on the installation, will possess, transport, or carry a firearm on the installation. The welcome center is open 7 days a week from 0500-2100. You may complete registration at the Main Gate afterhours.

Fort Hood Weapons Registration Form (as of 17JAN23)
After completing registration, you can store your weapons in the IRC Arms Room. You will need to sign a memorandum of stating the weapon type, serial number, and registration date. To remove your weapons stored at the Fort Hood IRC Arms Room you will need a memorandum from your unit commander stating authorization to transport weapons to the gaining unit’s arms room.
Ask the Reception Cadre for the appropriate memorandum once at the Fort Hood IRC.

As you are met by Reception Cadre, Soldiers can expect to fill out paperwork, turn in the required documents listed above, and be assigned temporary lodging in building 16008 if needed.
Barracks and Lodging
Upon signing in E-1 to E-5 unaccompanied Soldiers will be assigned a barracks room at the Reception Barracks. You will be provided clean linens and a pillow. You will also have access to cleaning supplies. You are expected to ensure you room stays clean and prepared for room inspections. Male Soldiers are not allowed in the female barracks and female Soldiers are not allowed in the male barracks.
E-6 and above Soldiers and those with families are encouraged to make temporary living arrangements prior to signing in. You may contact the housing office to be put on the waitlist for on-post housing if need be. Below is the housing office phone number and hotels on-post:
IAW USAFCFS Regulation 190- Personnel residing on Fort Hood who possess a firearm will register the weapon with the Provost Marshall at Building 23020, 58th Street). Firearms kept in IHG Army Hotels on Fort Hood will be unloaded and stored in separate from ammunition, under locks when unattended. A copy of the registration must be provided to the Front Desk for their files.
Transportation: If you are arriving via Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport, the 13th Expeditionary Support Command (ESC) will provide transportation 24/7. If 13th ESC is unavailable at the terminal, Soldiers can either call the 13th ESC Operations Center at 254-287-8800 to request transportation or coordinate for local taxi service and request reimbursement during the Day 2-Finance Brief.
Permissive Temporary Duty (PTDY): The Fort Hood Installation Reception Center will NOT authorize PTDY upon arrival. We recommend you have your losing unit authorize PTDY before arriving to Fort Hood. Soldiers must report when their leave is complete. If the Soldier wishes to take PTDY after their report date it will need to be requested through your gaining unit on Fort Hood.
Leaves and Passes: You have a 250-mile travel radius from Fort Hood. The Fort Hood Installation Reception Center Commander will only approve leave by exception, including emergency leave and extenuating circumstances. All other leave and passes will need to be submitted through your gaining unit after leaving Reception.
Housing Services Office (HSO) – If after 14 days you have not found off-post housing or are on the housing waitlist you are eligible to receive a memorandum (located in the Reception Welcome Packet pg. 7) from the Housing Office to adjust the hotel rate to your Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) appropriate for your rank. The housing office is in Building #18015.
Mail: Prior to departing their losing installation, we recommend that Soldiers place a hold on their personal mail until they arrive at their gaining unit. Once you arrive to your gaining unit and are issued a new mail address, the hold will be lifted and mail from your previous duty station will be rerouted to you.
Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU): Soldiers coming to SRU will report to Fort Hood IRC with orders and leave form if required. From there Soldiers will conduct the rest of in-processing at SRU.

Airport Information: All information regarding flying with American Airlines, including, baggage status, baggage fees and information, status of your flight, create flight status notification, traveling with pets, travel restrictions, and travel updates can be found on the American Airlines website.
Passengers can fly to any destination worldwide from the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport. Currently, there is one airline carriers servicing KFHRA – American’s hub is Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.
For domestic flights, passengers need to arrive at the Airport one-and-a-half hours (1.5) hours prior to their departure time. For international flights, passengers need to arrive at the airport two hours prior to departure time.
Bus - The Bus Station is permanently closed in Killeen Texas.
Taxi - There are many taxi/cab companies in the Killeen- Fort Hood area. Contact information is maintained at the Welcome Desk at the airport.
