If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP) (D200)
The Education Services Division is located in the Soldier Development Center (SDC), building 33009. This 220,000 square foot facility is managed/scheduled by the ESD; all ACES programs and services are consolidated and run out of Fort Hood’s education and training facility. The SDC has 100+ classrooms, 39 computer classrooms, five testing rooms, an Army Learning Center and 75 seat Computer Lab. Other tenants of the SDC include the Troop School, NCO Academy, One-Stop-Shop, and Phantom Warrior Signal Academy
The ESD offers the full range of ACES Programs and Services, with our ACES Guidance Counselors being available on a walk-in basis; no appointments are necessary. Our professional guidance counselors offer a holistic counseling approach which includes career/educational/financial aid counseling. ACES programs include Counseling, Credentialing Assistance, College Programs, Tuition Assistance, Testing, Basic Skills Remediation and Career Skills Programs. Our staff is highly proficient with TA and VA Education Benefits, as well as other forms of Federal Financial Assistance, and grants and scholarships. The ESD works hard to actively promote the pursuit of post-secondary education, and conducts a wide variety of briefings, as well as quarterly special events to help maintain visibility of its programs, to include an annual 2-day College Fair and Graduation Ceremony.
