The Education Services Division is located in the Soldier Development Center (SDC), building 33009. This 220,000 square foot facility is managed/scheduled by the ESD; all ACES programs and services are consolidated and run out of Fort Hood’s education and training facility. The SDC has 100+ classrooms, 39 computer classrooms, five testing rooms, an Army Learning Center and 75 seat Computer Lab. Other tenants of the SDC include the Troop School, NCO Academy, One-Stop-Shop, and Mission Command Training Center.
The ESD offers the full range of ACES Programs and Services, with our ACES Guidance Counselors being available on a walk-in basis; no appointments are necessary. Our professional guidance counselors offer a holistic counseling approach which includes career/educational/financial aid counseling. ACES programs include Counseling, Credentialing Assistance, College Programs, Tuition Assistance, Testing, Basic Skills Remediation and Career Skills Programs. Our staff is highly proficient with TA and VA Education Benefits, as well as other forms of Federal Financial Assistance, and grants and scholarships. The ESD works hard to actively promote the pursuit of post-secondary education, and conducts a wide variety of briefings, as well as quarterly special events to help maintain visibility of its programs, to include an annual 2-day College Fair and Graduation Ceremony.
The Fort Hood ESD was selected as the Active Duty location to conduct the Army’s 12-month Limited Users Test (LUT) of the Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) program. The CA program is a voluntary off-duty program that will allow Soldiers to formally associate their Army training and experience to a wide variety of industry-recognized certifications, which in turn contribute to the professionalism of the Army and help document the competencies of our Soldiers, while at the same time help Soldiers prepare for their eventual post-Army career. During this LUT, Soldiers will be able to select 1 of 28 authorized credentials to pursue. Please visit your Army Education Center to learn more about this innovative new program.
