On Base and Distance Education
The Izmir Education Center provides active duty members, adult dependent and civilian employees with opportunities to establish and achieve education goals by offering courses and ancillary services thanks to The University of Maryland University College in Europe existing on Base, which offers on-base programs leading towards associate and bachelor's degrees that are scheduled on a five term per year basis via classroom delivery and distance learning, respectively. In addition to the on base courses, many on-line courses (distance learning lab available) as well as entire degree programs are available to meet specific educational needs. Courses offered by UMUC Asian and Stateside Divisions are also available each term for enrollment and tuition assistance usage.
Students are furthermore entitled to use Air Force Tuition Assistance for distance education course enrollments leading towards an Associate or Bachelor's degree with off base universities and/or colleges as long as those academic institutions are accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by U.S. Department of Education.
