Each installation provides information about the types of schools and programs offered on or near your installation for your child. Learn about the types of programs, guidelines and requirements for each school. Whether you choose to send your child to a Department of Defense School, a private school or public school, your installation can help you explore all of your options to make the right decision for you and your child.
Izmir currently does not command sponsor family members here. However, some Service Members still bring their families. The two options for children's education is the MEF International School or homeschooling.
There is also Adult Education for military members.
Adult Off-Duty Voluntary Education
The Izmir Education Center provides active duty members, adult dependent and civilian employees with opportunities to establish and achieve education goals by offering courses and ancillary services. The University of Maryland University College offers on-base programs leading towards associate and bachelor's degrees that are scheduled on a five terms per year basis via classroom delivery and distance learning, respectively. In addition to the on base courses, many on-line courses leading towards entire degree programs are available to meet specific educational needs; as well as a distance learning lab with speedy ADSL internet connection exists for use of all community members.
