Legal Assistance

The 425 Air Base Squadron Legal Office provides a variety of legal assistance services. To name a few of these services they provide:

• Wills (drafted via email by the 39th Air Base Wing Legal Office and notarized by 425th ABS Legal)
• Powers of attorney for U.S. and Transportation Management Office use only; Turkish powers of attorney are not available
• Notary services for U.S. powers of attorney

A Turkish Local Direct Hire Civilian attorney and paralegal is available to advise on civil or host nation legal matters. They also assists on civil law matters including landlord-tenant issues, traffic violations/accidents, consumer affairs, resident permits for command sponsored families and Tax IDs.

Hours of Operation:

• Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Legal Assistance with the attorney is by appointment. Please feel free to stop by the Legal Office or call the Legal Office at DSN: 314-675-6805 for an appointment.

The 425th Legal Office does not process claims forms, but offers referrals to the 39th ABW/JA.

Important Dates:

• 70 days from delivery to turn in; DD Form 1840R (Pink Form) - Notifying carrier of any loss/damage
• 2 years to file claim with AF for damages
• 9 months to claim for Full Replacement Value

Walk-In service for DD Form 1840R. Other Branches of the Service may turn in your claim to us and it will be processed at the nearest installation. All Household Goods Claims are now processed through AF Claims Service Center.

Steps:

1. File DD Form 1840/1840R (Pink Form), within 70 days from date of delivery.

2. File completed HHG claim within 2 years from date of delivery via:

• Internet from a Government computer: - For access on a non-Government computer call 877-754-1212 Instructions and paperwork available online.
• Mail to CSC - paperwork available here or online.
