With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Availability
Izmir has been without a temporary lodging facility since January 1, 2004, however, the 425 ABS Contracting Office has successfully negotiated a non-binding agreement, to be updated annually, with the three five-star and two four-star commercial hotels in the Izmir area to provide lodging assistance on a room-availability basis at an affordable cost for United States military, War Department and contract personnel on official travel orders to and from Izmir, excluding tax. We also provide courtesy space-available support for lodging to U.S. military personnel, retirees and their family on leave at the same cost.
Reservations
Coordinate with your sponsor to make reservations at one of the authorized hotels. Reservations should be made as soon possible. If you make last-minute reservations, you run the risk of hotels being full. Pets
If you are planning to ship your pet to Turkey, be advised that pets are only permitted at the Swiss Grand Efes Otel and Izmir Marriot Hotel. Be sure to inform your sponsor that a pet will be arriving with you.
Amenities
Upon request, some hotels may provide a iron, ironing board and fan. You can call housekeeping to check for the availability. There are laundry and dry cleaning services in the hotels, but this can be expensive. There are free washers and dryers in the Izmir Community Complex Hilton, 5th Floor for all inbound and outbound personnel.

If you are planning to bring your pet to Turkey, be advised that pets are only permitted in the Izmir Marriot Hotel while you are in temporary lodging allowance status. This is the only approved hotel in the area that will allow pets. You will be responsible for a one-time pet fee.
Pets over 55 pounds, or 25 kilograms, will not be permitted. Pets must have a valid pet certificate that details vaccination records provided by a veterinarian.
Another alternative is boarding your pet in a local facility. There are several English-speaking veterinarians in Izmir. Be sure to inform your sponsor that a pet will be arriving with you.

You are authorized to stay up to 30 days for temporary lodging allowance only. Service members will need to submit TLA every 10 days through Finance.
Civilian employees, please work with the Incirlik CPO for further guidance. Ensure you have enough funds on your government travel card. Request increase with your losing GTC management, if needed.
