With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
The Sakakawea Inn has a total of 85 rooms to provide their guests with quality service and accommodations. Rooms consist of 30 new TLFs, 53 VQs, and 4 DV suites.
If you arrive after duty hours or on a weekend/holiday, the Sakakawea Inn is staffed from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Check-in is available after 10:00 p.m. with a reservation made prior to arrival. The Sakakawea Inn is located at 173 Summit Drive, DSN 312-453-6161 Ext 0 or 701-723-6161 Ext 0. The toll-free number for making CONUS Air Force lodging reservations is 1-888-AF LODGE (1-888-235-6343). Your sponsor can make a reservation for you in advance.
Please contact the front desk to book your reservation once you receive your orders. Priority 1 reservations in TLF are only authorized for 30 days, according to availability. Extensions passed the 30 days can be requested through management, however, once the 30 days pass, Priority 1 reservations in TLF must be removed from Priority 1 status and placed into Space Available, or Priority 2, status IAW DAFMAN 34-135.
There are 18 pet-friendly family units available on a first-come/first-serve basis, so please book as far in advance as possible. There is a 2-pet limit (domestic dogs and cats only) in pet-friendly rooms. Lodging follows the 5th BW Banned Breeds policy and will confirm your dog’s breed at the time of reservation. There is $10.00 nightly pet fee. Pets are not authorized in non-pet friendly rooms unless it is an ADA service animal. Emotional support animals must be in pet-friendly rooms. All guests are required to show proof of pet vaccinations prior to or at the time check-in. If all pet-friendly rooms are booked, please ask the front desk for boarding options as we cannot issue a Certificate of Non-Availability if a regular room is available for the member and any dependents, IAW DAFMAN 34-135. The front desk has a list of local kennels available for those who need to board their pets.
Single airmen should coordinate with their sponsor or the First Sergeant to ensure a dorm room is secured prior to arrival. Lodging and local hotels are booked for state-sponsored events in late July and late September. If you are PCSing during these periods make your reservations early.
You can book reservations for temporary lodging as soon as you receive orders. Reservations can be made 24/7 online at https://af.dodlodging.net/ or by calling the front desk at 701-723-6161, option 0 from 0600-2200.
When space is not available on base, the lodging office will issue a Certificate of Non-Availability and a list of local hotels. These must be issued in advance and cannot be backdated or changed once the arrival date has passed.
Please be mindful that on-base lodging and local hotels are booked for state sponsored events in the summer season, especially in late July and into September. If PCSing during these times, please call us for exact dates to confirm reservations as far in advance as possible or plan your arrival/departure dates around these dates.

All guests are required to show proof of pet vaccinations upon check-in. If all pet friendly rooms are booked, please ask the front desk for boarding options.
You can book reservations for temporary lodging as soon as you receive orders. When space is not available on base, the lodging office will help you make arrangements for off-base lodging at local hotels. Reservations during the busy summer season should be made as soon as the need is known.
