Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
The leaders and service providers at Minot Air Force Base are committed to helping families remain strong during deployments, extended temporary duty assignments and remote tours. A readiness non-commissioned officer is assigned to the Military and Family Readiness Center to work with unit leadership and service agencies providing services to airmen and their families during family separations. For additional information or questions, contact the M&FRC at 701-723-3950 orDSN 312-453-3950.
Airman Support
Readiness briefings are held every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The briefings emphasize the need for preparing and reviewing personal and family documents, and family-care plans for both single and married military members and their families. Deployment, separation and reunion issues are discussed as well as M&FRC and community resources that are available to members and their families during deployments. Attending a readiness briefing helps ensure that personal and family affairs are in order to help minimize the stress of deployment and family separation. Resources are available to assist single, single-parent and married active-duty members, their spouses and their children with issues of deployment and separation. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend this briefing.
Reintegration Briefings
When personnel return from deployment, they are required to attend a reintegration briefing. This briefing will be accomplished in mass formation with all required agencies present. Your unit deployment manager will brief you on when and where briefings are held. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend this briefing.
Key Spouse Outreach Program
This partnership between squadrons and the M&FRC is designed to maximize support to families. Key spouses are volunteers appointed by participating squadron commanders. All key spouses are trained by the M&FRC to inform, refer and support families in accessing base resources and/or leadership. If you are interested in becoming a key spouse, contact your first sergeant. To obtain a key spouse contact in your squadron, contact your first sergeant or the M&FRC.
Volunteer Resource Program
The Volunteer Resource Program is a base-wide program designed to fully utilize and recognize the contributions of volunteers at Minot AFB. The intent of the VRP is to promote the spirit of volunteerism through assisting volunteer agencies in meeting their needs and helping individuals to find volunteer jobs that best suit their personal interests or career goals. The M&FRC is the focal point for volunteer recruitment, training and recognition. Free child care may be available for eligible volunteers.
