Cell phones are prohibited from use while driving on the installation, this includes hands-free devices.
Virginia's Child Restraint Device Law (Code of Virginia Article 13 Section 46.2) requires that children riding in motor vehicles be properly restrained in a booster seat until they reach eight years of age. The law requires rear-facing child seats be placed only in the back seat of a vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a back seat, the device may be placed in the front passenger seat, provided the airbag has been deactivated or there is no airbag equipment.
Naval Station Norfolk requires all active duty personnel who operate motorcycles on or off base, on duty or off duty, and civilian employees operating on base to attend the 2 day Basic Rider Course (BRC). Experienced riders who have completed the BRC must take the experienced rider course (ERC) as a refresher every 3 years. Any sportbike rider must take the military sports bike rider course after completing the BRC. Refresher training is required every 3 years.
Defense Service Network (DSN) Dialing Instructions
The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense (DoD). Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is unnecessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included. Further DSN instructions can be found at: https://installations.militaryonesource.mil/military-installation/naval-support-activity-washington#:~:text=When%20dialing%20a%20DSN%20number,(719)%20567%2D1110.
