Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:
The Naval Station Norfolk Fleet and Family Support Center offers a self-service area for transferring personnel to set up their move and help themselves to relocation handouts and brochures on the local area. In addition, the NSNF&FSC provides information about both military and community resources such as schools, housing, employment and recreation. Other services include workshops such as Smooth Move and Overseas Transfer.
Installation-Specific Information
The NSNF&FSC services can be accessed in person, email or by going to the NSNF&FSC website. The center offers one-on-one consultations providing information about both military and community resources.
Foreign-Born Spouses
The Foreign-Born Spouse Workshop addresses issues such as citizenship and immigration, English as a second language, military lifestyle, community and military resources, and provides an opportunity to meet other foreign-born spouses.
The Foreign-Born Spouse Support Group meets every fourth Friday of the month at the Wadsworth Community Center. It is an informal group so children are welcome for whom we provide activities. For the adults, we have guest speakers, discussions, information and resources, and support from other spouses who are facing the same challenges. Members arrange social get-togethers outside of the group such as shopping trips, mommy and me outings, lunches, and other social events. The group has a quarterly potluck dinner which provides an opportunity for all family members to meet and have fun. Call the Naval Air Station Oceana Fleet and Family Support Center at 757-433-2912 for more details.
