If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
For immediate emergency assistance, call the military police at 702-652-2311. If dialing 911 on a cell phone to report an emergency on base, caller MUST specify to the dispatcher that the emergency is on Nellis Air Force Base. The dispatcher will transfer the call to the Nellis AFB emergency response team.

The American Red Cross is always available for emergency aid anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter (phone numbers are usually listed in the white pages of phone directory). They can sometimes help with emergency financial assistance and contacting individuals who will need to know where you are and what's happening. Quick communication with home about family emergencies is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including verification of death or serious illness of immediate family, birth announcements to fathers deployed overseas, and health and welfare reports resulting from a lack of communication over a long period of time. Make sure you have all your important papers/documents with you (orders, passports, medical records, etc.). Consider scanning in all of your documents that you'll be hand carrying; copy to a USB drive or CD. Add phone numbers of your commander, first sergeant, command support section, your sponsor and lodging to your cell phone. These numbers can be crucial in case of an emergency while in transit.
Air Force Aid Society
The Air Force Aid Society provides interest-free loans or grants to active duty Air Force members and their families, retired Air Force members, dependents of deceased Air Force members, as well as Air National Guard and Reserve personnel .

All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, the AFAS does not provide financial assistance for custody disputes, paying of legal bills or court fees. These are special cases and must have HQ AFAS approval. The Nellis Military & Family Readiness Center is no longer responsible for handling emergency assistance cases for the Air Force Aid Society. If you have tried calling your sponsor, supervisor and first sergeant without success, and you need urgent assistance, please call the Nellis Air Force Base Command Post at 702-652-2446. They are available 24 hours a day and will contact your sponsor or first sergeant anytime, day or night.
