If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is available for emergency assistance. Contact the nearest chapter by calling 877-272-7337. They can sometimes help with emergency financial assistance and contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and what's happening. Locate the nearest military installation for help. You may also request assistance from the Air Force Aid Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society or Army Emergency Relief at the base Military and Family Readiness Center.
Once you arrive at Offutt Air Force Base, please visit the Military and Family Readiness Center for any assistance you might need. The M&FRC can assist ALL branches of services and liaison with the appropriate service members relief agency to provide the necessary assistance. Call M&FRC at 402- 294-4329.
The M&FRC keeps a list of all helping agencies in the Omaha community, so you can be referred to whatever agency can assist. There is also an American Red Cross office on Offutt for emergency notifications. The American Red Cross can be reached at 402-294-5032 or 877-272-7337.
It is important that you hand carry and keep all of your important papers with you and do not pack them with your household goods. You can customize a personal relocation plan through planmymove.militaryonesource.mil. Also, it is a good idea to have the numbers for your commander, first sergeant, commanders support staff, installation command post and your sponsor on you. They can be valuable in case of an emergency while in transit. It is important for you to maintain contact with someone at your gaining unit and let them know where and most importantly how you are.
No matter how well you've planned, emergencies do happen. What should you do in case of emergency while you are traveling? Contact your inbound unit for further instructions. In case of an emergency, go to the nearest military installation or contact the American Red Cross at 877-272-7337.
