Emergency Assistance

It's important for you to maintain contact with someone at your gaining unit. Know who to call during an emergency, update them on your status and let them know any needs you may have during your move.

Important Numbers to have during a Permanent Change of Station:

  • The Military Crisis Line is a free, confidential resource for all service members including members of the National Guard and Reserve and veterans, even if they’re not enrolled in VA benefits or health care.
• Sexual Assault Response Coordinator - 402-232-9999
  • The SARC is responsible for ensuring a victim support system that provides a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week sexual assault response capability for all victims within his or her designated area of responsibility. Located at Building 323 C, Room 233.

• Offutt Air Force Base Military and Family Readiness Center - 402-294-4329
  • Once you arrive at Offutt Air Force Base, please contact the Military and Family Readiness Center for any assistance you may need and to get connected with additional available resources.

Financial Assistance Resources:

• The American Red Cross Financial Assistance - Depending on the situation, The American Red Cross may be able to help with emergency financial assistance and contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and what's happening.
• Air Force Aid Society - When unexpected emergencies arise and there is a financial need, AFAS provides no-interest loans and/or grants to help meet immediate needs and make a positive step towards a lasting financial solution.
• Army Emergency Relief - To provide financial assistance, educational scholarships and enduring support to soldiers, retired soldiers and their families helping them to overcome financial obstacles and encourage financial stability.

It's critical to keep all of your important documents with you and do not pack them with your household goods.

The following list is an example of important items to hand carry:

• Copies of your permanent change of station orders
• All moving paperwork, inventory, etc.
• Employment records of family members
• Medical, dental and immunization records for entire family
• School records for children and adults
• Pet records and immunizations
• Phone numbers for your gaining unit, sponsor and command post (for emergencies during transit)

No matter how well you've planned, emergencies can arise during a permanent change of station move.

During your travel, if you have an emergency, please contact your gaining unit for instructions.
