Offutt Air Force Base and surrounding community has a wealth of opportunities for meaningful employment and professional growth. Take a proactive approach to exploring the resources and possibilities available in the Omaha MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area). The MSA includes Cass, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington counties in Nebraska and Pottawattamie, Mills and Harrison counties in Iowa, providing a comprehensive network of prospective employment opportunities.
The M&FRC offers individual consultations for both active duty service members and their families to assist in their job search and resume review. They also offer in-depth information for military spouses regarding educational programs and financial assistance. The M&FRC also provides both federal and civilian resume classes, a military spouse education class, and a LinkedIn class to network service members and their families with information and resources on opportunities in the local area.

Unemployment compensation
Unemployment compensation may be available for the spouses of newly assigned military members, transitioning members, or civilian employees. Transitioning members should contact Nebraska Workforce Development for more information. Military spouses should file for unemployment with their previous state or contact their local American Job Center for more information.

Licensure Reimbursement
Military spouses with existing licensure can receive up to $1,000 in reimbursement when moving to Nebraska. You will need Copy of PCS/PCA orders, your previous state occupational license or certification, and receipt showing Nebraska’s re-licensure fees for the same profession. Reimbursement issued through Finance.For more information and to view your states reciprocity with Nebraska check out the Department of Labor’s interstate licensure compacts.
When searching for your next career, be sure to keep (hard and virtual) copies of all employment records and documents, resumes, transcripts, certificates, and licenses. The Military & Family Readiness Center can provide resume classes and resume reviews upon request.
For those military stationed at Offutt AFB who are planning to separate or retire, you should sign up to attend the 5-day TAP seminar, offered 19 times a year. ( In addition, Offutt also offers TAP seminars exclusively for retirees. Please call the center for the dates.) The seminar fills up about three months out, so it's important to plan ahead. The Pre-Separation Counseling appointment is mandatory and is a prerequisite to registering for the TAP seminar. You are asked to schedule yourself for the mandatory briefing(offered once a week) at least 2 years out for retirees and 1 year out for separatees prior to your actual separation or retirement date.
