Relocation Assistance

Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:

• PCS planning: Most relocation assistance programs offer consultations to help you with the moving process. If this your first military move, your first time moving overseas or you have challenging or complex circumstances contact your installation Relocation Assistance Program as soon as possible for support.
• Plan My Move: An online Defense Department relocation tool that provides you with customizable checklists and links to helpful resources for the tasks ahead.
• Military OneSource: A website and call center that offer 24/7 support for moving information and resources. • Workshops and briefings: Workshops vary by location. You may find classes on housing options, moving with children, moving with pets and more.
• Predeparture briefings: These sessions provide essential information about your move and may be required for some populations.
• Special needs: If you have a child or family member enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program, contact your installation EFMP-Family Support office to assist you.
• Settling-in services: Look for welcome programs or local area tours that may offered. Overseas services may include introductory language classes and cultural awareness activities.
• Foreign-born spouse support: Assistance includes information and referral to resources such as immigration and naturalization.
• Emergency assistance: Sometime emergencies occur while moving. The Military and Family Support Center has the resources to provide emergency financial assistance, as well as information and referrals.
• Authorized housing flexibility options: Eligible service members with PCS orders may be entitled to flexibilities such as extended stays in government housing and early housing eligibility. Contact your military personnel office for more information.
• Spouse licensure reimbursement: Your service branch may reimburse spouses up to $1,000 for relicensure and certification costs resulting from relocations or PCS moves. The Relocation Assistance Program involves a variety of agencies that can assist personnel during relocation. These include Civilian and Military Personnel Flights, Traffic Management Office, Housing Office, Financial Services (military/travel pay), Military and Family Readiness Center, Lodging Office, school liaison, Legal Claims Office, chapel, veterinarian services, medical clinic, and the Child Development Center and Youth Services.

Our goal is to provide accurate information and assistance to help all military personnel and their families make a smooth transition from one location to another.

Offutt Air Force Base offers two opportunities to be introduced to Offutt and the surrounding community. Prior to your arrival, you are invited to attend a virtual Pre-Arrival Orientation, hosted via Zoom. Once you arrive, Offutt conducts a comprehensive monthly occurring Newcomer's Orientation for members, DoD civilians, and families. Spouses are encouraged to attend both orientations. Your unit will schedule you for in-processing and Newcomer's Orientation. Come to the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) for information on the community and other relocation services. Important Items to consider during your relocation can include:

• Copies of your permanent change of station orders
• All moving paperwork, inventory, etc.
• Employment records of family members
• Medical, dental and immunization records for the entire family
• School records for children and adults
• Pet records and immunizations

The M&FRC also provides information and walk-in services to relocating personnel and their families, always ensuring our service members and their family are connected with current and PCS related information to make their move a success.

Offutt does not have a Loan Closet. We recommend that you pack household goods you think you will need to set up your new home - cooking supplies, a card table and chairs and other items -- in your express baggage. Possibilities for finding needed equipment on base include the Airmen's Attic at 402-294-3318. Its hours of operation are Tuesday noon to 4 p.m. and Thursday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Please check out their Facebook page for updates – Offutt AFB Airman’s Attic.) Service members may also try Equipment Rental at 402-294-4049 or the Thrift Shop at 402-294-6879.

If your spouse will be looking for work, please have them visit the M&FRC to work with one of employment program counselors.
