Employment in the local area is oriented toward service, retail and telemarketing. Robins Air Force Base is located in a moderate cost-of-living area, as reflected by Warner Robins' average median income compared to the Georgia average; per capita income (2020) for the Robins AFB area is slightly lower than the state average. Be sure to hand carry all employment records and documents, resumes, forms listed on the USAJOBS website, most current Standard Form 50, latest performance appraisal, transcripts, certificates and licenses when PCSing.

The Transition Assistance Program through the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) provides Initial Counseling, Pre-Separation Counseling, monthly Transition Assistance Program Workshops, and Capstone appointments. All are mandatory and a congressional mandate to separate/retire.

• Step 1: Initial Counseling = Individual appointment with Transition Counselor (NLT 365 days prior to separation/retirement).
• Step 2: Pre-Separation Counseling (NLT 365 days prior to separation/retirement).
• Step 3: Transition Workshop (3-5 Days) = M&FRC, Department of Labor, and VA. Additional two-day tracks to include Employment, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Vocational Training.
• Step 4: Capstone (Individual appointment with Transition Counselor NLT 90 days prior to separation/retirement).           

The Robins Air Force Base Education and Training Office offers quality educational and training opportunities in support of mission readiness and professional and personal development for both the civilian and military populations. Assistance with the procurement of college and university programs, management of tuition assistance, counseling and testing services are provided.

Tuition Assistance Program

• Restricted to a maximum of $4,500 per fiscal year
• TA cap is $250 per semester hour or $166 per quarter hour
• May use Montgomery GI Bill in conjunction with TA while on active duty for courses that exceed TA cap
• You decide school, program and method of instruction.

Air Force Military Tuition Assistance is authorized for active-duty airmen pursuing an educational goal. An education plan must be on file with the base Education Office. Tuition Assistance is authorized for college goals below the doctorate level. TA is not authorized for courses leading to a lateral or lower level degree than already possessed.

Community College of the Air Force

• Two-year federally chartered and regionally accredited, degree granting institution
• Community College of the Air Force improves the technical, managerial and related skills of noncommissioned officers.
