When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Soldiers and their Family Members flying Patriot Express into Germany will arrive at the Ramstein Gateway Reception Center.
All Soldiers must be in-processed at the Reception Center. Soldiers and their Family Members will be transported by Sponsorship Bus (S-Bus) to their new garrison to begin a great European tour.
If a sponsor was not requested in advance, a reactionary sponsor will be assigned and meet the newcomers when they arrive.
Instructions about reporting to U.S. Army Europe are printed on orders per AE Reg 612-1- "Reporting to USAREUR on weekends and Federal Holidays is strictly prohibited".
All soldiers will ride the S-Bus to their new communities. The Central Processing Facility will meet the S-Bus upon arrival to the installation. After receiving a Welcome Packet and a short in-brief at the CPF, newcomers and their family members will be released to unit sponsors, who will take them to their quarantine location. All support while in quarantine will come from your gaining unit.
Due to COVID-19, U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria ask that you be flexible during In-processing as procedures may change.
After completing all quarantine requirements, soldiers will go through a Day 1 & 2 in-processing. During Day 1 soldiers will fill-out paperwork to provide input for the In-processing Computer System, Consolidated Mail Room (soldiers are issued CMR boxes during Day 1 in-processing), TRICARE, Exceptional Family Member Program, in-process Finance (complete travel voucher), housing brief, receive their In-processing Checklist and their In-processing Training Center training schedule per Army Emergency Regulation 612-1.
During Day 2 each soldier will in-process Personnel, Transportation, Housing, and Medical/Dental Clinics. Soldiers are afforded opportunities to in-process Schools and Child Youth Services and other personalized work-centers. All Soldiers will attend ITC where they are provided information on services available in the garrison.
Spouses (no children) are welcome to attend the ITC briefs conducted on Wednesdays. Driver's orientation and testing are conducted every Monday morning for in-processing soldiers.
Army Community Service offers a variety of Newcomer Orientations for Spouses and Civilians. These orientations offer cultural adaptation information, guided community tours of the local area, basic German language skills and introduction to local customs, foods, public transportation and much more. Contact ACS to sign up. Space is limited.
Parents can pre-register prior to arrival and finalize registration at the school.

Required Documents for Registration:
- Orders pinpointing USAG Bavaria as the location of assignment with the student(s) name included
- SEALED school records OR contact information of previous school
- Immunization records
- Birth certificate or passport required only for Sure Start, Kindergarten and 1st grade
- Two local emergency contact information (other than parent) and one states side permanent contact.
Your child cannot start school without the documents listed.
The housing location will determine the elementary school that your student will attend. If you have been assigned housing, please register with the elementary school in your assigned area. If you do not have your housing assignment, please register with the closest elementary school to your hotel.

Bring Family Member's Social Security Numbers, Copy of Department of Defense Form 93 and SGLI Military Personnel File ensure Service Contract in Military Personnel Flight.
If you paid for your ticket to Germany using your Government Travel Credit Card please hand carry a copy of your Government Travel Charge Card statement.

Ensure all family members are command sponsored before relocating. Family members taken on a non-command sponsored tour may face financial hardship due to no logistical support.
The role of Army Lodging is to provide quality lodging and hospitality services to eligible patrons for America's Army. Our facilities are comparable to limited service commercial hotel standards and represent quality and consistency from installation to installation.
Military personnel on orders must receive a Certificate or Statement of Non-availability from Army Lodging prior to staying in an off-post hotel.

If you get married before your permanent change of station to Germany you must inform your commander and start the command sponsored application follow the procedures exactly as you are given. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures and your family members are not listed on your orders as command sponsored.
Do not bring your family if they are not command sponsored that will only bring hardship to you, your family and the unit.
