Child & Youth Services in Kaiserslautern assists parents in finding childcare for children six weeks old to fifth grade. The USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Parent Central Services Office offers resource and referral services and can assist families in finding on childcare options to meet each family’s individual childcare needs. Child & Youth Services
There are competent, trained and caring people working with your children throughout the CYS programs. CYS management professionals and caregivers are trained on child development, health, safety, early childhood education and childcare administration. The CYS staff provides your child with continuous creative and developmental learning programs and are your partners in meeting your childcare needs.
All CYS programs are certified with commendation by the Department of Defense. The Child Development Centers are accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children and the School Age Centers are accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
Army childcare programs include full-day center-based care, part-day center-based care, school-age services, hourly program and summer camps.
The USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Kaiserslautern CYS has five Child Development Centers at Kleber Kaserne, Landstuhl (two locations), Miesau Army Depot and Sembach Kaserne. There are two School Age Programs located at Landstuhl and Sembach Kaserne. The Air Force operates Family Child Care facilities in the community. They have an average of thirty-four sites in the Ramstein and Vogelweh areas. Registration for Air Force programs is conducted at each Air Force Child Center.
Parent Central Services for Army Child and Youth Programs:
To participate in any USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Kaiserslautern CYS program, youth must first be registered at USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Parent Central Services, Building 162, Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Telephone CIV: 0611-143-541-9065/66/67, or DSN 314-541-9065/66/67.
Office hours and services by:
Parents PCSing to the Kaiserslautern Military Community, who have used Army CYS elsewhere, must request their current Parent Central Services office to "export" their children's files to the FMWR Holding Server, so the receiving office can “import” the files. The process requires one family email account of choice based on which the household file will be “exported-imported” by the respective office staff.
Eligibility
CYS follows the DOD Supplanting Matrix for Military Family Types and DOD Priority. All Service members, DOD Civilians and Contractors are eligible for care services.
CYS Waiting List Guidance for Incoming Families
Childcare availability in USAREUR varies and may change depending on ages, program location, etc. Some communities may have significant childcare waiting lists. Soldiers, DoD Civilians and Contractors who are on pinpoint orders to USAREUR will need to go online to militarychildcare.com to create and account, and place their children on the waitlist as soon as they know the community they will be PCSing to.
USAG Rheinland-Pfalz-Kaiserslautern has five Child Development Centers. They are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Miesau CDC provides a full-day program for children six weeks to five years of age. The Miesau CDC is located in Building 1314. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Telephone numbers are DSN 314-541-9124 or CIV 0611-143-541-9124.
The Landstuhl CDC1 provides full day programming for children six weeks to Kindergarten age requiring childcare up to twelve hours a day on a regular basis. They offer Strong Beginnings Pre-School and full day programs for children entering Kindergarten the following fall. This program is only available from September through May. Landstuhl CDC1 is located in Building 93802. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Telephone numbers are DSN 314-486-7350 or CIV 06371-86-7350.
The Landstuhl CDC2 provides a full-day program for children six weeks to Kindergarten age requiring childcare up to twelve hours a day on a regular basis. Landstuhl CDC2 is located in Building 3812. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Telephone numbers are DSN 314-486-6566 or CIV 06371-86-6566.
The Sembach CDC provides a full day program for children six weeks to Kindergarten age requiring childcare up to twelve hours a day on a regular basis. The Sembach CDC is located in Building 83. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Telephone numbers are DSN 314-541-9099 or CIV 06111-43-541-9099.
Sembach School Age Center (SAC) program offers before School care from 6-8 a.m. and after school care from 2:30-6 p.m. They also offer Summer Camp during the months of June through August. Child-Supervision Policy
Children in the fifth grade and below requires adult supervision. Children in the sixth grade and above may be left alone and may baby-sit siblings, if they have ready access to adult supervision. Children in the seventh grade and above may baby-sit siblings, if they have ready access to adult supervision. Subordinate commanders may supplement this policy with local guidance.
