COMMANDER’S Welcome
Whiteman Strikers and Air Power Advocates:
As America’s premier bomber force, the 509th Bomb Wing supports, maintains and operates our nation’s only stealth bomber– the B-2 Spirit. As such, our team proudly affords the President of the United States and Combatant Commanders distinct and unrivaled military capabilities that are available nowhere else. Our mission is to execute strategic nuclear operations, lethal global strike and combat support – anytime, anywhere!
As you review our Strategic Plan, you will notice it does not follow a traditional format. The plan is deliberately succinct. It lets you know who we are, what we do, where our priorities lie and how you enable mission success. It’s designed to resonate with our selfless Airmen and our dedicated civilian force. If you have questions about our Strategic Plan, talk to your supervisor. Or talk to your Wingmen. Or talk to me. I welcome your insights as this is a living document for a dynamic, rapidly evolving world.
Thank you for what you and your families do for our great nation. Your dedication is the heartbeat of our wing’s lethality and global power projection capability. You inspire me every day and I am honored to serve as your commander.
Daniel C. Diehl
Colonel, USAF
Commander, 509th Bomb Wing
The 509th Bomb Wing is part of Air Force Global Strike Command as well as the host wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, MO. The bomb wing and its fleet of B-2 Spirit bombers serve as part of the Air Force's conventional and strategic combat force. The men and women of the wing are capable of flying anywhere around the world from home station and delivering a wide range of precision-guided munitions.
The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions. A dramatic leap forward in technology, the bomber represents a major milestone in the U.S. bomber modernization program. The B-2 brings massive firepower to bear, in a short time, anywhere on the globe through previously impenetrable defenses.

Passports and Visas
If you are traveling from overseas, ensure you and/or all dependents have the required passports and/or visa prior to final out-processing. Member and/or dependents are not allowed to final out-process without the required passports/visas in hand for themselves (if applicable) and/or dependents. Members electing the accompanied tour will not be permitted to out-process without having the required passports/visas in hand for themselves (if applicable) and/or dependents.

Defense Service Network (DSN) Dialing Instructions
The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense (DoD). Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is unnecessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included.
