Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Your sponsor should meet you upon arrival either at the Visitor's Center, billeting, or the airport. It is your responsibility to ensure he or she knows your arrival specifics. Next, please check into your unit. Individuals should report to their gaining unit’s Command Support Staff (CSS) or Orderly Room. Each member will receive their appointment time from their orderly room for the Whiteman Welcome Center at Building 527, The Silverplate Center. It is the responsibility of the Commander Support Staff and the sponsor to coordinate the appointment prior to the member's arrival and to assist with filling out required paperwork prior to appointment. The appointment should be within three business days of the new member’s arrival on station. The Whiteman Welcome Center will ensure you and your family in-process through Military Personnel, Finance, Housing, Traffic Management and Medical. Sponsors for E-4 and below and O-3 and below are required to escort their members to the in-processing appointment. If your new member is not one of these ranks, it is still highly recommended you escort your members to their appointment.
During in-processing, you will be given a schedule for all required briefings and times that they will be conducted.
Newcomer's Orientation:
Newcomer’s Orientation will provide a great start for you and your family at Whiteman Air Force Base. This briefing is the Wing Commander’s formal welcome to all new arrivals. It is a mandatory half-day of briefings designed to explain the Whiteman AFB mission, introduce you to key support agencies, share specific local laws and policies and to mitigate risk common in the region. The briefings are usually offered twice each month.
Spouses and children are highly encouraged to attend Newcomer's Orientation. We understand that due to other obligations, spouses may need to arrive late and depart early. You may qualify for 20 hours of free childcare offered through the Air Force Aid Society. This is based on availability with FCC providers. Please visit the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) in The Silverplate Center in Building 527 with a copy of your orders to receive your PCS Child Care certificate.
Temporary Lodging Reservations
Temporary lodging is available through The Whiteman Inn. If there is no availability, Newcomers will receive a referral to an off base hotel. Statements of non-availability are not authorized in the event there are no facilities available on base to accomodate you with your pet. The nearest off-base hotel is the America's Best Value Inn in Knob Noster with others in Warrensburg and Sedalia. Several motels are within commuting distance to Whiteman. The approximate range of rates is $60 to $100 per night with a military discount. (Note: Some rooms may not have cooking facilities.) Please consult with the on-base lodging staff for a non-availability letter prior to making reservations off-base.
Temporary house and apartment rentals in the area are limited. Most landlords would like for you to enter into a lease, but some will negotiate. Do not rely on a "military clause" in a lease to allow you to be released early to move onto base. To appropriately apply the "military clause" in a lease agreement, you must have orders to another destination. It is a recommended practice to check with the Military Housing office before signing anything.
Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) Office/Billeting is located at 325 Spirit Blvd., Whiteman AFB. The TLF office can be reached by calling 660-687-1844.
REMEMBER: Limited rooms are available in base lodging for those traveling with pets. If you do not have a pet-friendly unit, you must make arrangements for your pet at a local kennel. Please have your pet's shots up to date and travel with their shot record. Some local kennels include:

Congratulations! If you get married during a permanent change of station (PCS) move, please inform your squadron leadership immediately and follow the procedures exactly as specified by the squadron leadership.
