Military and Family Support Center

The Federal Voting Assistance Program ensures service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens have the tools and resources to register to vote and request an absentee ballot, regardless of their state of residence. The Voting Assistance Guide is a reference guide for everything you need to know about absentee voting in all 50 states, the U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.

Military and Family Support Centers provide information, education and support programs to help balance the demands of military life. Offerings include:

• Deployment support to assist you and your family during all phases of the deployment cycle. Learn more about deployment support.

• Confidential non-medical clinical counseling provides support for a wide range of issues from marital conflicts and stress management to coping with grief and deployment adjustments Learn more about confidential non-medical counseling.
• Personal and family life education assists with developing knowledge and skills to help you navigate your mobile military life.
• Personal financial readiness assists you and your family in building and maintaining your financial readiness.

• Information and referral can assist you in identifying and clarifying needs and locating and connecting to services and programs available both on and off your installation.
• Morale, Welfare and Recreation, or MWR services provide lots of ways for you to connect with friends and others for entertainment, rest and relaxation — all at reduced or no cost. Learn more about MWR programs and services.

The M&FRC at Whiteman Air Force Base welcomes members and spouses to attend all briefings and programs we offer. When you’re dealing with issues that affect your life, we believe two sets of ears are better than one, and you and your spouse may not have the same questions. 

Programs and Services Offered:

• Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLC)– Licensed counselors are available to help service members and family members address a variety of issues. Consultations and trainings are free and anonymous. Contact the office at 660-687-7132 or by cell phone at 660-525-5301.
• Personal Financial Readiness – Financial counselors/advisors are available to assist Airmen and family members with information and advice regarding financial management, budgeting, investment, and other financial matters.
• Exceptional Family Member Program – We can provide information and referral on local services and support to assist your family with their individual needs.
• Air Force Aid Society – AFAS is the official charity of the Air Force. Emergency assistance can be provided through loans and grants. They also fund other community enhancement programs to support military members and their families.
• New Spouse Orientation – This class introduces spouses to the Air Force. They will learn about the mission, acronyms, pay and base resources, and meet other spouses new to military life. 
• Bundles for Babies – This class provides expectant parents tools to prepare physically, mentally and financially for their new arrival. Participants will receive a free gift ($100 value).
• VA Benefits Advisor – Veterans services representatives are available through a contractor located at the M&FRC.
• Transition Assistance Program (TAP)– For those separating or retiring in two years or less, this mandatory process guides you through building a resume, interviewing skills, networking and more. See below for more information.

Individualized Initial Tap Counseling (ITC)- Individualized initial counseling between the service member and a TAP counselor is now the official start of the transition process. During the IC session, service members complete their personal self-assessment and begin the development of their Individual Transition Plan to identify their unique needs for the transition process and post-transition goals.

• Pre-Separation Counseling – This session is mandated by law for all separating or retiring service members to ensure personnel are aware of benefits and entitlements available to them.
• Three-Day TAP Workshop – TAP is provided through the M&FRC to assist personnel and family members when they separate from the military. This process begins when you visit the M&FRC's Transition Office to schedule your mandatory pre-separation counseling and sign up for the mandatory three-day TAP workshop. The TAP workshop includes information on job search techniques, resume writing, interviewing skills, financial assessment and a full VA benefits briefing.
• Two-Day Workshops – Two-day workshops are available for post-military endeavors such as education, vocational careers, entrepreneurship and employment.
• Capstone – This is the conclusion of the TAP program. This is a culmination of what service members have learned in the other classes and certification for their transition readiness.
