Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Please contact the Child and Youth Program point of contact at this installation if you require information, assistance or resources for child care in your local community.
The CDC and SAC programs offer hourly care priority for PCS in/out families during the first week of in processing/last week of out processing. PCS care is only available upon the absence of a full-time enrolled child. It is best to call the CDC to discuss availability. Reservations may be possible depending on availability for the hours needed. Additional hourly spaces are available for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age at the CDC and Kinder through 6th grade in the school age program on a limited basis.
Programs available at the Aviano Child Development Center includes; full-time, hourly, Part Day Enrichment, The CDC serves children 6 weeks through 5 years of age. Part Day Enrichment (PDE) is a part day program that may be offered during the school year depending on staffing levels. Sure Start is available through the DoD Elementary School.
Care for school-age children is available through Youth Programs that include: before and after school care, full day care on non-school days, Give Parents a Break (for Air Force and Space Force families) and Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out.
FCC/in-home daycare providers are not available at Aviano AB. Check with the Family Advocacy office to learn about Child Supervision Guidelines for Aviano AB
Childcare services on Aviano Air Base are available through many programs. Aviano has 2 Child Development Centers and one School Age Care program.
The CDC is DOD Certified and NAEYC accredited and SAC is DOD Certified and COA accredited. Each offering quality early childhood programming for your children, specializing in learning through play. Additionally, the CDC utilizes Early Learning Matters as its curriculum to enhancing learning, school readiness, and overall development. Enrollment is available on a priority basis for children 6 weeks to 5 years at the CDC and Kinder to 12 years at SAC. There is no on-base housing and therefore, no Air Force Family Child Care program. Childcare is limited for some age groups and the centers may be filled to capacity and unable to support all childcare requirements. Area 1 CDC will have limited capacity and services available in the near future. Militarychildcare.com is the only place to request care for either CDC or School Age Care.
Eligibility
Dependent children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age, of active duty personnel, DOD civilian personnel, reservists on active duty or during inactive duty training, DOD contractors and Coast Guard personnel assigned to or living on the installation are eligible to use the CDC and School Age Care Programs.

Registration
All families, with children 6 weeks to 13 years of age, who may need childcare must enroll at http://www.militarychildcare.com/ to be added to our childcare waitlists. Requesting care prior to arrival and prior to birth is highly advised. It is important to include a good contact number and personal email address. Always update any family contact information as it changes.

Priority Care
The purpose of military childcare is to support the mission of the DOD by serving DOD-affiliated families so that they may fulfill their military or DOD-related duties. In February 2020, the Office of the Secretary of Defense issued a memo to update the priority system and clarify when military families will receive priority access to childcare.
The new priority framework is as follows:
Costs Full day and part day pre-school fees are based on total family income and are computed for each family at the time of registration. The fee for hourly care is $5 per hour per child.
