Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Please contact the Child and Youth Program point of contact at this installation if you require information, assistance or resources for child care in your local community.
The Child Development Center (CDC) and School Age Care (SAC) programs offer hourly care priority for families who are PCSing in or out during the first week of in‑processing and the last week of out‑processing. PCS care is only available when a full‑time enrolled space is not occupied, so families are encouraged to contact the CDC directly to discuss availability. Reservations may be possible depending on availability and the hours needed.Additional hourly care is available on a limited basis for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age at the CDC and for Kinder through 6th grade at School Age Care. Programs at the CDC include full‑time care, part-time, and hourly care. The CDC serves children 6 weeks through 5 years of age, and Universal Preschool is offered.Care for school‑age children is provided through Youth Programs, including before‑ and after‑school care, full‑day care on non‑school days, Give Parents a Break (for Air Force and Space Force families), and Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out. Family Child Care (FCC) or in‑home daycare providers are not available at Aviano AB. Families should contact the Family Advocacy Office for Child Supervision Guidelines.
Childcare services at Aviano Air Base are provided through one Child Development Center (CDC) and one School Age Care (SAC) program. The CDC is DoD‑certified and NAEYC‑accredited, while SAC is DoD‑certified and COA‑accredited. Both provide high‑quality programming focused on learning through play. The CDC uses the Early Learning Matters curriculum to support school readiness and child development. Enrollment is available on a priority basis for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age at the CDC and Kinder through 12 years at SAC. Because Aviano has no on‑base housing, there is no Air Force Family Child Care program. Childcare availability may be limited, making early planning essential.Families seeking care must register at www.militarychildcare.com, create a family profile, and search for “Aviano AB” to request care. Requests are prioritized automatically according to AFI 34‑144.
Eligibility includes dependent children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of active duty members, DoD civilians, reservists on active or inactive duty training, DoD contractors, and Coast Guard personnel assigned to or living on the installation.
All families with children 6 weeks to 13 years who may need childcare must register at www.militarychildcare.com to be placed on waitlists. Requesting care prior to arrival or birth is highly recommended. Keep all contact information updated. Hourly care requests must be made through the Child and Youth Programs Business Management System (CYPBMS); contact the center if assistance is needed.
