If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. A number of opportunities exist at Aviano Air Base for adults and family members who wish to continue their education or pursue personal and professional development while stationed overseas.
For personal enrichment courses such as learning a foreign language, cooking, music, or dancing, the Aviano Community Center serves as a central resource. The Community Center offers a variety of group study and enrichment classes designed to to meet diverse interests and skill levels. Class schedules and availability vary based on enrollment and seasonal offerings.

The Aviano Education Center provides educational and academic support services to active-duty service members and their eligible family members. Services include assistance with tuition assistance, credit by examination programs, and access to distance education opportunities. The Education Center supports both degree completion and lifelong learning goals.

The Aviano Education Center serves as the primary resource for information on college programs and courses offered on base. Military personnel, Department of Defense civilians, and adult family members are encouraged to contact the Education Center to explore academic opportunities that support degree completion, professional advancement, and lifelong learning.
Education Center services include academic and career guidance counseling available on a walk-in or appointment basis, testing services, and information on financial assistance programs. The Education Center also supports Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) testing, credit by examination options, and distance learning programs.

The University of Maryland Global Campus offers certificate programs, associate degrees, and bachelor’s degrees in disciplines such as Management Studies, Business Management, Psychology, English, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Government, History, and more. Graduate programs in Counseling and Information Science are also available on site, with additional programs offered online.
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provides extensive academic offerings in aviation, engineering, and technical disciplines.
Associate degree programs include Aeronautics, Engineering Fundamentals, Aviation Maintenance, and Uncrewed and Autonomous Systems.
