Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Personnel assigned to DLA McNamara HQC have access to the Child Development Center (CDC) located on DLA McNamara, the Child and Youth Centers located on Fort Belvoir, or other DoD centers within the commuting area. Military ChildCare.Com is the gateway for registration for all DoD Childcare.
At the HQ-C CDC, children ages 6 weeks to 6 years are immersed into learning environments that encourage the development of motor, cognitive, and social skills. In this nationally accredited center, there are spacious indoor areas, as well as multiple outdoor play areas for children to create and play. The DLA McNamara HQC Child Development Center (CDC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The center is DoD Certified to maintain the highest quality of care. Lead Teachers have Child Development Associate Credentials and/or college degrees.
Availability -- The CDC provides childcare and development for up to 220 children six weeks old through Kindergarten.
Programs Offered -- The Child Development Center operates a full day programs. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided.
Costs -- Rates are set by Department of Defense fee guidance.
Hours of Operation -- Monday - Friday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. The program operates all year but is closed on Federal Holidays and CDC teacher In-Service work days.
