Relocation assistance can provide support if you’re preparing to move or PCS. The programs and services defined below are provided by the Military and Family Support Center. In addition to the assistance program, a variety of other services may be available. Check the additional information topic to see what unique installation services are available to you.
If you are approaching a permanent change of station, or PCS, you may have questions about your upcoming move. As part of the Military and Family Support Center, the relocation assistance program provides services and resources to help make this transition as smooth as possible. Below is a list of resources.
To encourage sponsorship, the RAP manager does not mail Welcome Packages to individuals directly. Your sponsor will provide you with information about the base and area. Please read the Sponsorship section above for more information on requesting a Sponsor. Another great resource is MilitaryOneSource which offers information about preparing for your move and tips for after you arrive. The Joint Base Andrews Military & Family Support Center (Airmen & Family Readiness Center) also offers many services to assist you such as on-base services, schools and spouse employment information.
Installation Specific Information
Your sponsor is will be your most important support system at Joint Base Andrews prior to your arrival. You may request a sponsor through your local Military Personnel Flight (MPF). The request will be forwarded to JB Andrews. Your sponsor can meet you when you arrive, and before that, set up a post office box for your mail. If you are bringing your family, your sponsor can also assist with making lodging arrangements. If you are single and E-4 with less than 3 years of time in service, please fax your sponsor a copy of your orders to arrange a dorm room for you in advance.
You will be scheduled for a mandatory Welcome to Joint Base Andrews briefing once you check in to the MPF. Please note that Commanders are notified of no-shows. Welcome to Andrews. The briefings are usually held on some Mondays at 8:00 at the Community Commons.
The Military & Family Support Center offers an information fair during the Welcome to Joint Base Andrews briefing at around 8:00 a.m. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend to get information on spouse employment and other base services. You will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from many of the base and local community agencies such as Military & Family Support Center, the Exceptional Family Member Program, Education office, Military Family Life Counselor, TMO, School Liaison Officer and the Chaplain Corps.
