Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
The 673rd Medical Group (673 MDG) is a 65-bed military, 8 operating room military treatment facility providing primary and subspecialty, outpatient, and inpatient care to 159,000 Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries. Active-duty Army personnel are seen at the Soldier Center Medical Home (Troop Medical Clinic). All of Alaska falls under the TRICARE West Region.
There are two local community hospitals in Anchorage: Providence Alaska Medical Center and Alaska Regional Hospital. Mental health services for residential treatment are limited in Alaska; additionally, many health specialties are limited throughout Alaska and may only be met by specialists in Seattle and other locations. Members enrolled in TRICARE Prime are covered by a patient travel benefit to receive care at other locations. The 673rd Medical Group is closed the third Thursday of every month for training.
