Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
The purpose of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program is to support leadership in attaining mission readiness by providing education and services to active forces and their families to improve their life skills during military-induced separations. The readiness programs assist JBER personnel and families in preparation for, during and after deployments, extended temporary duty assignment and remote tour assignments.
Military and Family Readiness Center-Elmendorf offers weekly pre-deployment and reintegration briefings. Hearts Apart is a program for "waiting" families, disaster preparedness and crisis intervention, children's materials and morale calls. For additional information on pre-deployment and reintegration briefings or to obtain information on support groups for spouses, contact the M&FRC-Elmendorf at907-552-4943.
Army Community Service offers Mobilization and Deployment briefings and Rear Detachment Commander Training quarterly or on request. We offer training for Soldier Family Readiness Groups and have a stock of children's materials. For additional information on ACS Mobilization and Deployment or SFRGs, call 907-384-1517.
