When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
JBSA-Fort Sam Houston
Army Personnel
Once you arrive arrival at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, officers should sign into the register at the headquarters unit or activity to which they have been assigned. Enlisted Soldiers should sign into the orderly room of the organization to which they have been assigned or attached. All Soldiers, officers and enlisted, must sign in with their S-1. The S-1 will call the IOP to make an in-processing appointment for the Soldier. All Soldiers should check with their unit personnel noncommissioned officer reference security processing. Documents to Hand Carry to In-processing
Navy Personnel
All Navy personnel must sign in with their assigned command. The command’s CPPA (Administration) will coordinate all in-processing related arrangements. Contact assigned command’s quarterdeck to check in after normal business hours.
Air National Guard
The Force Support Squadron or Force Support Flight is delegated OPR for the newcomer orientations.
Air Force Reserve
M&FRC staff will follow the directions issued by the Air Force Reserve Command in support of newcomer orientation.
Defense Health Agency
Personnel assigned to DHA should contact the appropriate DHA Liaison at the email address or/and phone number below:
JBSA-Lackland
Once you arrive at JBSA-Lackland, report to your Commander's Support Staff (CSS) to sign in. You will receive a schedule of required in-processing appointments to include your date to attend the Newcomer Orientation briefing. If you do not have a CSS, report to the Customer Service Intro Programs located at 5161 Stewart St. Bldg. 5616, Room 129.
The Newcomer Orientation briefing is mandatory and is held every other Wednesday at the 68th Airlift Squadron, Bldg. 828. The briefing is open for military and civilian personnel who are newly assigned to JBSA Lackland. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Briefing hours are 8 a.m. to noon. Contact your Unit Personnel Office, Command Support Staff, or Civilian Personnel Office to coordinate attendance.
First Term Airman
All first-term airmen are required to attend the First Term Airman Course within 45 days of arriving on station. Appointments are not permitted during FTAC Register to attend FTAC by contacting 802FSS.FTAC.NCOIC@us.af.mil.

JBSA-Randolph
Once you arrive at JBSA-Randolph, report to your Commander's Support Staff with your sealed records. Upon signing in with your unit, you will be scheduled for required in processing appointments. If you or a family member needs an ID card or CAC card that will be handled through the MPS. Military members can and are encouraged to make appointments for ID cards. If you arrive after 4:30 p.m. or on a weekend or holiday, report to your CSS the next duty day.
Congratulations! Your new spouse needs to be registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and obtain a military identification card.
Contact the closest RAPIDS ID Card Office to determine if they take walk-ins or to schedule an appointment. To find the nearest office check the online ID Card Office Locator at https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/locator.
For processing into DEERS, your spouse will need their Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Social Security Card, and another form of Photo ID, such as Drivers' License or Passport.
As the active duty member, once you arrive check with your personnel office about an amendment to your orders before you file for any entitlements or refunds for your spouse.
