JBSA Fort Sam Houston

Army Personnel

Upon arrival at Fort Sam Houston, officers should sign into the register at the headquarters unit or activity to which they have been assigned. Enlisted Soldiers should sign into the orderly room of the organization to which they have been assigned or attached. All Soldiers, officers and enlisted, must sign in with their S-1. The S-1 will call the IOP to make an in-processing appointment for the Soldier. All Soldiers also should check with their unit personnel noncommissioned officer reference security processing. Documents to Hand Carry to In-processing

• In-processing Survey
• Personnel Records Review bring documents to add to ERB/ORB
• Leave and Earning Statement
• Duty memorandum (if required)
• Leave form (DA-31) signed by approving authority

Navy Personnel

All Navy personnel must sign in with their assigned command. The command’s CPPA (Administration) will coordinate all in-processing related arrangements. Contact assigned command’s quarterdeck to check in after normal business hours.

Air Force Personnel

Once you arrive at JBSA-FSH, report to your Commander's Support Staff (CSS) to sign in. You will receive a schedule of required in-processing appointments including your date to attend the Newcomers Orientation briefing. If you arrive after hours, report to your CSS on the following business day.

Defense Health Agency

Personnel assigned to DHA should contact the appropriate DHA Liaison at the email address or/and phone number below:

JBSA Lackland Air Force Base

Once you arrive at JBSA-Lackland, report to your Commander's Support Staff (CSS) to sign in. You will receive a schedule of required in-processing appointments including your date to attend the Welcome Center Connections/Newcomers Orientation briefing. If you do not have a CSS, report to the Customer Service Intro Programs located at 5161 Stewart St. Bldg. 5616, Room 129.

The Welcome Center Connections/Newcomers Orientation briefing is mandatory and is held every other Wednesday at Mitchell Hall from building 2300. The briefing is open for military and civilian personnel who are newly assigned to JBSA Lackland. Briefing hours are 0730- 1530. Contact your Unit Personnel Office, Command Support Staff, or Civilian Personnel Office to coordinate attendance. Please note that the following applies for in processing active duty service members: members with a Command Support Staff attachment will in-process with their unit directly and the Finance office.  Members without a Command Support Staff attachment will in-process with the Customer Service Office/Finance office and at this point information for the  Welcome Center/Newcomers Orientation is provided.

First Term Airman

All first-term airmen are required to attend the First Term Airman Course within 45 days of arriving on station. Appointments are not permitted during FTAC Register to attend FTAC by contacting 802FSS.FTAC.NCOIC@us.af.mil.

Documents to Hand Carry:

• At least 15 copies of your orders
• Copies of all insurance policies
• Immunization records for all children and pets
• School records for the children and high school/college transcripts for the adults
• Certified copies of birth certificates, adoption papers, marriage licenses, divorce papers, etc.
• Social Security cards. This is necessary to get a driver's license in Texas
• Purchase agreements for your vehicles, showing state sales tax paid
• Vehicle registration and title
• Current driver's licenses

JBSA Randolph Air Force Base

Once you arrive at Randolph AFB, report to your Commander's Support Staff with your sealed records. Upon signing in with your unit, you will be scheduled for required in processing appointments. If you or a family member needs an ID card or CAC card that will be handled through the MPS. Military members can and are encouraged to make appointments for ID cards. If you arrive after 4:30 p.m. or on a weekend or holiday, please go to Randolph's 24-hour arrival point, the Randolph Lodging office, located in building 112. Report to your CSS the next duty day. It is our goal to make your in processing go as smoothly as possible.

Congratulations! Your new spouse needs to be registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and obtain a military identification card.

Due to COVID-19 walk-in appointments may be limited. Contact the closest RAPIDS ID Card Office to determine if they take walk-ins or to schedule an appointment. To find the nearest office check the online ID Card Office Locator at https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/locator.

For processing into DEERS, your spouse will need their Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Social Security Card, and another form of Photo ID, such as Drivers' License or Passport.

As the active duty member, once you arrive check with your personnel office about an amendment to your orders before you file for any entitlements or refunds for your spouse.
