Local and Public Schools
Naval Station Mayport is located in the Duval County Public School District. Other surrounding school districts are; Clay (approx.44miles). Nassau (approx. 27 miles) and St. Johns (approx. 30 miles).
Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) is the public school district that serves the families and children residing the City of Jacksonville, Florida. As of 2015, the district had an enrollment of over 128,000 students, making it the 20th largest school district in the Unites States, and the 6th largest school district in Florida. The districts's 197 schools are traditional neighborhood and magnet schools, charter schools, and alternative schools, all of which serve students of various needs. The district is managed by the Duval County School Board and the Superintendent. Dr. Diana Greene has been the Superintendent since July 2018.
According to the Florida Department of Education's school grade system, which is based on the New Florida Standards and Florida Standard Assessments (FSA) test results, DCPS achieved and overall ranking of "B", in 2018.

Duval Magnet and Choice Program
Magnet schools give students the chance to attend schools that focus on themes or career areas of special interest to the student. More than 50 schools offer over 30 programs ranging from culnary arts and Montessori to computer science and the medical professions. Students can often follow the same magnet theme from elementary to middle and high school. Transportation is provided within established guidelines.

Charter Schools
Charter schools are public schools that operate on a performance contract, or "charter", with the Duval County School Board and are intended to expand school choice options for students. Charter schools are freed from many of the regulations that govern traditional public schools, but they are held accountable for academic and financial results. Charter schools must hire certified teachers. Duval County has 32 charter schools serving grades Kindergarten thru twelfth. Each Charter school has its own governing board that oversees the operation of the Charter school complaints.
