Navy Child and Youth Programs provide high quality educational and recreational programs for children and youth. Teams of caring, knowledgeable professionals plan developmentally appropriate programs that are responsive to the unique needs, abilities, and interest of children. Our staff fosters a sense of independence, trust, and responsibility within each child through understanding and respectful interactions. Likewise, through positive relationships, our programs respect and support the ideals, cultures, and values for families in their task of nurturing children and youth.
We are advocated for children, families, and the child, and youth professionals within our programs and surrounding communities.
Quality staff in all CYP programs is one of the most important ingredients of an outstanding child and youth program. Our staff is very experienced and very well trained. They are committed to keeping quality care for your child/youth our number one priority.
The Child Development Center is accredited through the National Association for the education of Young Children. The CDC is a beautiful, state of the art facility that is a great place for children. Styled after a Spanish ranch home Cortijo, the Center incorporates the latest features in child development center design to provide for the safety and security of the children in a pleasant setting.
The CDC has sixteen classrooms, each specially designed to accommodate the appropriate age group. A large variety of quality equipment, materials, and supplies are provided to support the classroom programs. Large playgrounds offer a variety of play experiences including a cycle track and village, shaded picnic pavilions, open grass areas and even a huge gothic castle.
The CDC follows the "Creative Curriculum" teaching strategy which provides a wide variety of age-appropriate activities designed to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of each individual child. The concept behind our curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. The activities we plan, the way we organize the environment, the toys and materials we select, the daily schedules and the way we interact with the children are all planned to accomplish the goals of our curriculum.
Programs Offered The following is a summary of the three different types of care options offered at the CDC.
