Deployment Support Overview

Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.

Naval Station Rota is committed to providing quality deployment support for all service members who deploy from Naval Station Rota. Naval Station Rota's Fleet and Family Support Center offers a variety of services and information to deploying personnel and their families.

The goal is to ensure smooth transitions and healthy personal relationships before and after extended separations. All deploying service members, whether deploying in units or as individual augmentees, can expect the following information and services:

  • Pre-deployment briefs and one-on-one meetings to address specific questions
  • Post-deployment briefs and one-on-one meetings
  • Return and reunion briefs
  • Pre, mid and post-deployment handouts
  • Individual financial readiness guidance
  • Clinical counseling services for returning service members and families
  • Guidance with the IA process

For IAs specifically, we encourage all IAs to download the latest handbooks for IA sailors, IA families and IA commands from the Navy Fleet and Family Support Center webpage. All three handbooks are updated when necessary and published soon after. Ensure you have the latest edition for the most up-to-date information. Also, visit the Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center website for a wealth of information about the IA process and what you can expect if you are deploying as an IA.
