If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. The following colleges and universities offer degree programs on base.
The Navy College is located in Bldg. 3293 on the second floor. Navy College counselors are available virtually only from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST at 877-838-1659 for Education Counseling, Tuition Assistance counseling, Defense Language Proficiency Test, Defense Language Aptitude Battery, SAT and ACT testing.
Central Texas College offers Associates degrees in Applied Sciences including Criminal Justice, Early Childhood, Emergency Medical Technology, Fire Protection Technology, and Hospitality Management. 011 956-82-2574 or DSN 727-2574.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University provides service members the opportunity to work towards Associate or Baccalaureate degree in Professional Aeronautics or Technical Management. ERAU also offers certificates in aviation maintenance technology, aviation safety, and preparation for the FAA written A & P exams. 011 956-82-2984 or DSN 727-2984.
University of Maryland University College provides prospective students the opportunity to complete course requirements for certificates, Associate degrees, Bachelors degrees, and Masters degree. There are a wide range of lower level and upper level courses in Business and Management, Government, History, Psychology, and Computer Studies. 011 956-82-2917 or DSN 727-2917.
University of Oklahoma offers a Master in Human Relations degree in a one-week condensed format. Class preparation begins 30 days prior to the first class meeting. This 30 day period requires extensive reading and writing preparations. After the 30 day period a professor travels from the University of Oklahoma main campus to teach the class face-to-face over a one week period. Classes run from Tuesday-Friday from 6 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The entire program can be completed in 20-24 months. 011 956-82-2799 or 727-2799.
