Government Housing Overview

When planning for a move with the military, you might consider moving into government housing. Government housing is owned and maintained by the Department of Defense and is typically on the installation. Eligibility and availability for this type of housing may vary by service member, family size and installation. Learn more about the different options, benefits and discounts that may be available to you through government housing.

Family Housing is available on board, a public/private venture. All incoming personnel are directed by their orders to report to the Navy Housing Office, building S456 before negotiating any on or off-base housing.

Family Housing is available on board at Naval Support Activity Mid-South Family Housing. If you have any questions regarding availability of housing, please contact Naval Support Activity Mid-South Family Housing at 901-677-0800.

Application

To apply for housing upon arrival and determine your qualifying eligibility, please visit our housing partners at the Navy Family Housing Office located in building 456. A housing representative will review your application with respect to your pay grade and number of family members to determine eligibility. Housing will immediately refer you to our Naval Support Activity Mid-South Family Housing which is also conveniently located within the Neighborhood Management Office. Advance applications for housing are always welcome. To obtain an application(Directives Division form 1746), please contact your local housing office or you can go to the Navy Housing website. It is a PDF file and can be filed out online. Complete the application and mail or fax with a current Record of Emergency Date and a full set of orders.
