It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour in Tennessee with exceptions for tipped employees, some student workers and other exempt occupations. Shelby County government employees are paid a higher minimum wage (currently $16) Many positions have a starting wage beginning at $12.00-$15.00 per hour and are offering a sign on bonus.

Career Development Resource Center
Within the Naval Support Activity Mid-South Fleet and Family Support Center is the Career Development and Resource Center which offers different resources to assist patrons in their job search. Many local businesses list their job openings with the center.

School transcripts, updated civilian and federal resumes or your work history (including dates), a list of references, professional certifications, certificates and awards, and any volunteer career information.
The Transition Assistance Program provides information and assistance to all separating/retiring members and spouses. Four-day classes have been developed to provide instruction in four areas: pre-separation counseling, employment assistance, financial planning and veterans’ benefits. An additional resource day has been added to the TAP class at NSA Mid-South to include other valuable resource information. Two-day track classes are also offered for My Employment, My Entrepreneurship, My Education and Career & Credential Exploration.
The Fleet and Family Support Center assists military veterans and their family members with access to the Department of Defense job search network. This is an associate site of America's Job Bank, provided by the DOD and Department of Labor. The system provides a large pool of job opportunities and nationwide exposure for applicants’ resumes.
