Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
The base Veterinarian can be reached at 901-874-5420 or via email at millingtonvetclinic@gmail.com. You can also follow us on our Facebook page: NSA Mid-South Veterinary Cinic. All animals aboard Naval Support Activity Mid-South must be registered and microchipped for base housing. There are no boarding or grooming facilities located on base. The reception desk and Fleet & Family Support Center (901-874-7343) have a list of vet clinics in the area.
The overall health of your pet is very important. For more specific information on traveling with your pet, consult your veterinarian.
Planning for the shipment of your pet includes researching airline requirements, along with quarantine and restriction laws in your new location. You will need to ask the airlines what their requirements for size, weight, number of animals, kennel construction, documentation and seasonal travel limitations.
Occasionally, small pets can be shipped on military flights, but availability and regulations are always changing, along with fees. Many international locations have strict importation laws, including extended quarantines and restrictions on breeds or types of animals that can be brought into the country.
Carefully research these rules as they could impact your travel plans and moving schedule. Many overseas locations have strict rules, including restrictions on dogs that are considered dangerous. You may also contact Diane Brown, Fleet and Family Support Center Relocation Specialist, at 901-874-7343, to pick up a current copy of the Headquarters Air Mobility Command Pet Pamphlet.
QuarantinesThere are no location-specific quarantine laws/regulations for this location on or off the installation. There are no quarantines required for this area.
The Army Veterinary Clinic on the installation, provides immunizations, sick calls and microchip services. There are no surgery or boarding services offered. Please note that this area is high risk for heartworm, fleas and ticks.
You may call the Veterinary Clinic at 901-874-5420 for additional information or email them at millingtonvetclinic@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.
