Shipping Pets Overview

Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.

Subtopics

Fleet & Family Support Center 901-874-7343 has a list of vet clinics in the area.

The overall health of your pet is very important. For more specific information on traveling with your pet, consult your veterinarian.

Planning for the shipment of your pet includes researching airline requirements, along with quarantine and restriction laws in your new location. You will need to ask the airlines what their requirements for size, weight, number of animals, kennel construction, documentation and seasonal travel limitations.

Occasionally, small pets can be shipped on military flights, but availability and regulations are always changing, along with fees. Many international locations have strict importation laws, including extended quarantines and restrictions on breeds or types of animals that can be brought into the country.

Carefully research these rules as they could impact your travel plans and moving schedule. Many overseas locations have strict rules, including restrictions on dogs that are considered dangerous. The address to the Air Mobility Command Pet Page is www.amc.af.mil/AMC-Travel-Site/AMC-Pet-Travel-Page/. You'll find information regarding Pet Travel Fee Reimbursement, Service Animal Guidelines, Pet travel information, DoD Pet Transportation Guidelines, Pet Travel Documents & Check in instructions for AMC Flights, among other useful information.

There are no location-specific quarantine laws/regulations for this location on or off the installation.
