If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.

The American Red Cross is available for emergency aid. The American Red Cross Emergency Communications Center is available to help 7 days a week 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Call 800-733-2767 toll-free or contact your local Red Cross. If your family needs emergency assistance, you can submit a request online or call the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross of the Mid-South local number is 901-726-1690.
For emergency assistance, near a military installation, contact the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society at that installation, or that Service components equivalent office. They can provide emergency assistance based upon need, through either loans or particular hardship grants.

Don't fall victim to predatory lenders. Make NMCRS your first resource! Navy Marine Corps Relief Society at Naval Support Activity Mid-South 901-874-7350, located at the base chapel (building 777). Operating hours: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Fridays. Appointments are not required for Quick Assist Loans however are required for traditional loans.

Make sure all your important papers/documents are with you - not packed with your household goods! Numbers for your command duty office and your sponsor can be invaluable in case of emergency during transit. If an emergency happens in transit, call your sponsor and your new command and tell them where you are and what the situation is. Be sure to give your sponsor additional points of contact in case they are unable to reach you. The NSA Mid-South command duty officer cell is 901-282-0338.
No matter how well you've planned, emergencies do happen. What should you do in case of an emergency while you are traveling? Contact your command sponsor to inform them of what happened. Depending on the emergency and if it requires a monetary loan, you can contact the American Red Cross Toll Free Number: 800-733-2767, who will confirm your status with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and then assist you as needed. You may also consider contacting your insurance company to determine if you qualify for additional assistance through them.
